The Environmental Scientist / Geoscientist / Task Manager will assist project managers in project scope and budget development, health and safety plan preparation, subcontractor procurement, project planning and task management, reporting, deliverable reviews, and closeout. As a Task Manager, you will apply your existing knowledge and develop new skills while working on a variety of challenging environmental and construction projects.

You will support environmental and remediation projects by managing field personnel to conduct site assessments, sample collection, and remediation oversight. You will support project managers by preparing subcontractor purchase order requisitions, creating budget analyses, ensuring compliance with project schedules, supervising field personnel, and by providing waste characterization/management and resource management. You will be technically responsible to a more senior geoscientist or project manager to provide accurate and pertinent scientific data evaluation, procedures, and techniques; and to prepare reports or provide a summary of conclusions and recommendations based on field investigations and literature reviews.

Availability to travel (5-10%) is a requirement, with most travel being day trips; however, multiple-day trips may be needed depending on the project and/or location. This unique position offers the opportunity to grow/expand your experience in the following areas:

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Geoscience, Environmental Science, or related subject areas.
  • With a BA/BS degree, minimum 2 years' experience is required; or
  • Past project/industry, experience (5-10 years).
• Familiarity with environmental assessment and remediation projects.
• Knowledge of TCEQ rules/regulations (i.e., TRRP) and reporting formats.
• Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize simultaneous work assignments.
• Familiarity with online tools for conducting and recording work.
• Prepare detailed scopes of work, solicit contractor bids, prepare pricing/proposal estimates, coordinate site work, provide on-site quality assurance for projects in your region, and work with contractors to ensure safe and high-quality completion of work and deliverables in a timely manner.

• Collect data as prescribed by the scope of work and present it in a logical, coherent manner, including the preparation of written reports, tables, figures, and illustrations.
• Help develop schedules and budgets, and complete assigned tasks on schedule and within the budget to the satisfaction of the project management team.
• Maintain auditable and orderly files, notebooks, and correspondence on project aspects, and utilize Weston's online project management system.
• Conduct work in compliance with technical project specifications and standard operating procedures defined in the project work scope.
• Monitor the effort, timeliness, and the quality of work of subcontractors and document and report variations.
• Report project-related delays and irregularities.
• Participate in periodic team meetings.
• Under the direction of more senior staff, coordinate laboratory analyses to achieve project goals appropriate to the proper identification and evaluation of samples.

• Solve technical problems on projects with assistance from senior staff.
• Cooperate with project QA/QC audits and reviews and assist in implementing corrective action as appropriate.

• Ethical conduct and professionalism.
• Demonstrated technical competence and willingness to instruct junior staff in areas of specialization.
• Be ready and willing to ask questions!

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER or 8-Hour Refresher training a plus.
• Lead, mold, or asbestos trainings, certifications, or licenses a plus.
• Texas GIT or PG a plus (if geology background).
• Project management software experience a plus.
• Ambient air monitoring experience a plus.
