Venue Host, Heritage Festivals - Seasonal

The Venue Host is responsible for the event execution at assigned Heritage Festival venue. The Venue Host works with the Event Host to ensure that the event at the secondary venue runs smoothly, ensuring adherence to the schedule, in the moment problem solving as issues arise, ensuring all logistical components are being accurately executed, and ensuring a high-quality experience for all event participants. The Venue Host works directly with the Event Host, venue partners, vendors, event participants, and adjudicators to ensure a successful event. The Venue Host reports to the Event Host.

Event Host Responsibilities



  • Serve as the head of even at secondary venue location
  • Own all elements tied to the on-site execution of the event at the secondary venue location
  • Master of Ceremonies for the event at secondary venue location
  • Ensure on time execution of the event schedule; making in the moment changes as necessary to avoid delays
  • Receive and direct event participants and adjudicators at secondary venue location
  • Collaborate with venue partners, vendors, and adjudicators to ensure smooth logistical execution of event
  • Answer questions and address concerns of our customers in a service-oriented manner
  • Ensure that the secondary event space is clean prior to and after the event
  • Be knowledgeable of all policies and procedures and execute accurately
  • Ensure proper setup and breakdown of secondary event space and A/V


Qualifications



  • Experience in event management
  • Excellent management, organizational, and planning skills
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Ability to anticipate problems and make contingency plans
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Flexible and approachable


  • Strong logistical, time management, and public speaking skills.
  • Detail oriented with ability to prioritize and work on various tasks simultaneously
  • Exercise good judgment and solve problems while holding themselves and other accountable for the outcome of their work
  • Outstanding solution-focused customer service skills


  • Physically able to fulfill responsibilities associated with event execution. Festivals require physical exertion including climbing stairs, lifting, long hours on your feet and walking, and exposure to weather (hot or cold).


  • Able to maintain a professional decorum when faced with conflict or issues while interacting with our customers
  • Work effectively in a service-oriented environment
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, other event staff members, vendors, and customers
  • Travel to event locations over weekends and holidays

Successful Candidates




  • Are high energy, flexible, and able to work extended event hours
  • Reside at the event location
  • Can complete a mandatory training program prior to working first event
