Newport Aquarium HVAC Maintenance Technician Lead

What you'll do

• Primary HVAC systems technician
  
  
  
  • Significant experience with all types of refrigeration equipment and related refrigerants.
  • Significant experience with meters, instrumentation, and related controls systems.
  • Experience with Preventive Maintenance.
  • Knowledge of operations and maintenance of AAON rooftop HVAC mechanical systems and controls
  
  
  
  
• Must be able to perform troubleshooting techniques on complex plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Perform and lead daily planned and unplanned maintenance functions as needed.
• Operate and train staff on all machine tools.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to design and perform all plumbing work and services.
• Ability to perform semi-skilled electrical functions, i.e. install minor conduit runs. Assist in wire pulling, understand electrical terminations. Troubleshoot electrical circuits using electrical testing devices, etc.).
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.
• Ability to perform masonry tasks, i.e. install block walls, patch concrete flooring, level floors
• Ability to perform semi-skilled carpentry functions.
• Semi-skilled troubleshooting on ozone generator and supporting systems.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager.

What you'll bring:

• Significant experience in a relevant trade.
• Minimum of 5 years of previous facilities maintenance experience, not necessarily in aquariums.
• Experience in mechanical and fluid handling preferred.
• Proven leadership skills
• Must be available to work weekends, holidays and evenings.

Special Requirements:

• Successful completion of pre-employment background check.
• Ability to remain on stationary for long periods, climb stairs and ladders, bend and stoop.
• A valid driver's license with a good driving record (last 3 years)
• Ability to speak, read and write effectively in English
• Physical strength, including the ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work around all species and types of animals.
• Note: Position will involve exposure to nut allergens, inclement weather, dust, potentially dangerous and unpredictable animal species, and potentially dangerous machinery, restraint devices and toxic chemicals and/or drugs. Occasional use of protective clothing or equipment is required e.g. goggles, mask, gloves, and gowns.
