Summary:

Field Financing Team Consultant will drive accuracy and efficiency improvements for all Field Financing Team activities, including administration of loans and allowances, audits of daily work, balancing and reconciliation processes, and provides oversight of our systems. The Field Financing Team Consultant will drive these improvement opportunities by understanding and utilizing current and future system capabilities as the business moves through a multi-year modernization effort. The Field Financing Team Consultant will work with other members of the Field Financing Team to implement the improvement opportunities. Additionally, the Field Financing Team Consultant will work with Field Financing Manager to collaborate across Career Distribution, Law, and Infrastructure and Support teams to support new programs and company initiatives.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Modify internal control processes for processing and auditing of daily work, balancing, reconciliations, and budget reporting as systems advance and modernize.
  • Independently identify and drive improvement opportunities for processing and auditing of daily work, balancing, reconciliations, and budget reporting with a focus on accuracy while maintaining operational efficiency.
  • Works with Field Financing Manager to collaborate across Career Distribution, Law, and Infrastructure and Support teams to support new programs and company initiatives.
  • Responsible for training the Field Financing Team on new program launches and modifications to programs through updated designs or systems.
  • Participates in annual yearend program resets, including validation of data, manual adjustments for processes not yet automated, and population of payment systems.
  • Shared responsibility for monthly SNOS budget reporting in partnership with leaders from Controllers and Distribution Finance.
  • Resolves complex problems that have implications beyond the Division.
  • Independently researches, analyzes, and coordinates resolution of issues and notifies management.
  • Maintains team's case tracker and metric reporting.
  • Represents the department on projects, audits, task forces, system enhancements and other special projects related to NM's products.
  • Coordinate special funding and reimbursement requests from business partners across the enterprise, taking into account home office and field office accounting needs, regulation and tax reporting requirements, and other necessary controls.
  • Coach and mentor others on team.
  • Evaluate processes and identify process improvements and reporting needs.
  • Define reporting and process improvement needs and coordinate with appropriate teams to develop tools and reports to meet needs.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or related major strongly preferred. Equivalent amount of relevant work experience education will also be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Leadership and project management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI, SQL, VBA.
  • Strong systems background.
  • In-depth functional expertise and broad business knowledge.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build rapport and exercise tact, diplomacy, resourcefulness and understanding to service the customer at all levels.
  • High degree of personal initiative and self-motivation.
  • Superior organizational skills with the ability to independently set priorities and carry out multiple assignments on a timely basis.
  • Strong analytical and business judgment skills.

Compensation Range:

Pay Range - Start:

$68,320.00

Pay Range - End:

$126,880.00

Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Positions in certain locations (such as California) may provide an increase on the standard pay structure based on the location.
