Position Overview
Primary Purpose of Position |
The Lecturer/Lab Manger will contribute to teaching and perform instruction-related duties and responsibilities in accordance with the mission, policies, and procedures of the University. Engages in undergraduate and graduate lecturing and advising. Supervises student research. Engages in examining duties such as production of exam questions/papers, grading, proctoring. Serve on committees that support the University's mission.
The position oversees and carries out the daily teaching and research operations of the lab. Manages and administers lab systems, practices, policies, and procedures. Ensures good lab organization for equipment, tools, workspaces, and projects. Advises and makes recommendations on lab matters. Plans and oversees events related to collaborative projects. May assist with the writing of proposals, report writing and preparing for laboratory visits and demonstrations. Attends departmental faculty meetings and other events required. Provides educational training, instruction in lab courses, advises and makes recommendations on lab experiments.
Persons with the rank of lecturer shall be hired for teaching and other related duties but shall not be tenure track. The appointments will be renewable at the discretion of the University. |

The College of Science and Technology enrolls over 2290 students. It is a national leader that serves and engages the citizens of the state of North Carolina, the nation, and the world through preeminence in science and technology education, research, discovery, and innovation. The College houses the departments of Applied Engineering Technology, Biology, Built Environment, Chemistry, Computer Systems Technology, Mathematics and Statistics, Physics, and the Ph.D. Program of Applied Science Technology. The College is experiencing substantial growth in enrollment, faculty size, curricula, and research.
The Department of Applied Engineering Technology supports about 400 undergraduate and graduate students. The Department offers the following degree programs: B.S. in Applied Engineering Technology, B.S. in Automotive Engineering Technology, B.S. in Computer Graphics Technology, M.S. in Technology Management, and Ph.D. in Applied Science and Technology - Technology Management concentration. Minimum Requirements |
MS or PhD in Applied Engineering Technology or Industrial Engineering or closely related field. |
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education |
MS or higher, five years of experience in an industrial lab environment, operational testing lab or working in the academic teaching/instructional lab environment. License or Certification in any of the following areas:
CNC Machining, 3D Printing, Materials Testing, Metrology, Programmable Logic Controller, Mechatronics,
CAD/
CAM, Engines, Automotives |
