$86,000.00 - $142,000.00

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

The Loss Reserving Actuarial Specialist provides best practice analysis for loss reserving for the American Family Enterprise. You will support the development of models and projections to enable the business to generate consistent and sound prices. You will report to the Senior Manager, Actuary.

In this flex office/home role, you will be expected to work a minimum of 10 days per month from one of the following office locations: Madison, WI 53783; Boston, MA 02110; Denver, CO 80112; Eden Prairie, MN 55343; Keene, NH 03431; St. Joseph, MO 64507; Phoenix, AZ 85034

Primary Accountabilities

  • You will use significant actuarial knowledge and business knowledge to manage complex actuarial projects as assigned in loss reserving.
  • You will utilize an in depth understanding and facility in the use of database tools for the purpose of development and analysis of complex experience studies, pricing, reserving and other actuarial calculations.
  • You will use strong knowledge of actuarial analysis and forecasting to participate in the development, implementation and/or maintenance of actuarial related software.
  • You will prepare and analyze complex data for use in actuarial experience studies, valuation, or pricing projects.
  • You will use fully developed knowledge and expertise of actuarial methodologies to actively influence project team participants.
  • You will provide consultation and clarification on actuarial models and risk issues to influence team members and management toward courses of action that have a sizeable impact on profitability.
  • You will maintain standard documentation on assigned projects/tasks.
  • You will consult with other departments and field force by answering inquiries and providing explanations of an actuarial nature.
  • You may be requested to complete other assignments or participate in projects based upon skills, achievements, or experience.

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of pricing, valuation, financial reporting, and industry trends.
  • Demonstrated experience, communicating complex actuarial analysis to business partners.
  • Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated experience using actuarial software with database tools and statistical tools.
  • Demonstrated coding experience with SQL, Python, R and/or Excel
  • In pursuit of Associate or Fellow in Casualty Actuary Society.
  • Travel up to 10%
