Position Summary
The Division of Quality, Safety, and Clinical Operations, within the Department of Internal Medicine, has an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join the Department of Internal Medicine on their Quality, Safety, and Clinical Operations team. This position is best suited for a person looking to join a dynamic team interested in job growth, and a career at UNM. The Data Analyst will work with the Executive Vice Chair and Vice Chair of Clinical Operations. This team strives to enhance the delivery of care provided at UNMH.
Duties and Responsibilities
Quality & Safety
  • Daily data abstraction and analysis of mortalities; maintenance of mortality assignments, compliance, and review of opportunities for improvements
  • Organize Internal Medicine mortality review and support the Department review committee meetings, clinical data abstraction, and data maintenance & storage
  • Collects and analyzes daily data pulls of Patient Safety Portal events; identify "Selects"; initiates investigation/referral & compilation of data; and assist in designing reports for various medical leadership groups
  • Collects and analyzes clinical data from several sources to compile data on clinical outcomes to provide reports to staff, fellows, residents
  • Facilitate dashboard creation with existing stakeholders to maintain data integrity
  • Ad hoc data requests
Clinical Operations
  • Monthly data abstraction and completion of Departmental reports including patient access, coding and billing, finance, non-billable
  • Facilitate dashboard creation to aid in identifying profit leaks, faculty productivity, and opportunity
  • Ad hoc data requests

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports
  • Prior experience designing and implementing systems necessary to collect, maintain, and analyze data
  • Experience with medical billing systems
  • Prior experience in healthcare
  • Exceptional Excel Skill
