Job Description: Embry-Riddle is seeking an energetic and creative fitness professional to join our team! The Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness is responsible for managing the organization, implementation, safety, and assessment of the group fitness and personal training programs. This includes teaching exercise classes and personal training as well as employee recruitment, extensive student training and development, and utilizing innovative and best practices to encourage student and staff participation in programs.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Oversee and manage the creation and implementation of fitness and wellness programs and events
  • Assist in campus and community-wide events include internal strength competitions, fitness & wellness expos, and large-scale community events
  • Collaborate with other departments and student organizations
  • Design and execute departmental strategies
  • Analyze and evaluate programs for appropriate growth & improvement
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule and evaluate group fitness instructors
  • Assist with fitness facility reservation requests and scheduling
  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the floor, respond to participant questions and concerns, monitor inventory, maintain fitness equipment and make recommendations for replacement
  • Manage area-specific marketing platforms such as social media, and support the departmental marketing schemes
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in kinesiology, exercise science or related field

Required Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities:

  • Current CPR and AED. All certifications required within 90 days of hire
  • In-depth knowledge of exercise physiology, programming, technique, cuing and coaching a variety of group fitness and training styles
  • Current group fitness and personal training nationally recognized certification
  • Experience teaching a variety of group fitness classes such as cycling, HIIT, strength-based classes, yoga, & kickboxing
