SUMMARY

Under the supervision and direction of the Lead Technologist/Service Coordinator, the Imaging Patient Assistant is responsible for providing assistance to the Imaging Technologists and rendering outstanding service to patients in the department of Imaging/Radiology. The Imaging Patient Assistant will facilitate in preparing patients and rooms for exams, assist in explaining any delays in procedures, aid patients with modality specific duties, stock dressing rooms and exam rooms, and maintain an orderly, respectful work area.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS




  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform all functions.
  • Greets patients in a friendly, pleasant and respectful manner.
  • Assists Imaging Technologists in the preparation of patients and exam rooms for Imaging exams.
  • Chaperones Imaging exams per policy
  • Transportation of patients primarily between ED and Radiology
  • Maintains safe, clean, and orderly work area.
  • Stocks dressing rooms and exam rooms with linen and other supplies.
  • Answers phones, uses computer, and other related duties as assigned.



QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Minimum High School Diploma or GED

Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:




  • Must be able to stand, walk, reach, bend, push, pull, lift, balance, and perform repetitive movements.
  • Able to assist in lifting and carrying supplies, approximately 25 lbs.
  • General knowledge in the operation of wheelchairs and stretchers.
  • Ability to aid in transferring and/or moving patients via stretcher or wheelchair.
  • Duties include knowledge and use of basic computer skills.
  • Good critical thinking skills
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with patients and staff.
  • Compassionate and empathetic manner in stressful situations.
  • Must be reliable, adaptable, and cooperative.



Required Licensure, Certification, On-going Training:

BLS CPR

Work Experience:

One year experience working in a healthcare setting preferred.

Customer service-oriented background helpful.
