Martial Arts Instructor

Position Summary: The Martial Arts Instructor will teach martial arts classes to participants of all ages and skill levels at the community center. The instructor is responsible for creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where participants can develop their martial arts skills, improve physical fitness, build confidence and discipline.

Essential Responsibilities:

Class Instruction:
o Plan, prepare, and lead martial arts classes for individuals or groups, ensuring content is appropriate for varying age groups and skill levels
o Demonstrate techniques, forms, and drills clearly and effectively
o Provide individualized feedback and adjustments to participants to promote improvement

Safety and Supervision:
o Monitor participants to ensure safety during all activities
o Enforce safety guidelines and proper use of equipment
o Address and respond to emergencies or injuries, following community center protocols.

Program Development:
o Design lesson plans that align with martial arts standards and goals of the community center
o Incorporate warm-ups, cool-downs, and fitness activities into the program
o Create an inclusive and motivational environment that fosters learning and teamwork.

Administrative Duties:
o Maintain attendance records and participant evaluations
o Provide input to the program director on class scheduling, participant needs, and equipment requirements
o Assist with promotional activities to encourage participation in martial arts programs

Professionalism and Collaboration:
o Build positive relationships with participants, parents, and community center staff
o Maintain up-to-date knowledge of martial arts trends, techniques, and teaching methods
o Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and community events as required

Qualifications:
* Proven experience in martial arts training and instruction, with proficiency in a recognized martial arts discipline (e.g., Karate, Taekwondo, Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, etc.)
* Certification from a recognized martial arts organization preferred
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work effectively with people of all ages and skill levels
* CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
* Computer Skills:
o Basic computer skills

* Certificates and Licenses:
o Ability to obtain and maintain training and certifications such as First Aid, CPR, and Blood Pathogen
o Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed
