Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
Work from Government instructions and Maintenance Instruction Manuals and Company directives to perform maintenance repair and installation of aircraft life support systems and aircrew personal survival equipment.
Transport, install and remove Cartridge Actuated Devices and Propulsion Actuated Devices.
Pack, unpack, preserve and maintain parachutes and seat survival kits.
Repair, fit, maintain and preserve pilots personal equipment
Perform corrosion control and prevention as required.
Issues and receives aircrew survival equipment.
Initiate and update checkout/return records.
Assemble, place in service and perform calendar inspections on oxygen mask assemblies, survival vest, helmets and other related safety/survival equipment.
Perform aircraft conditional and special inspections of installed safety/survival equipment.
Maintain work center workload reports for parachute and personal equipment for accountability and inspection due dates.
Adjust, maintain and perform minor repairs on sewing machines.
Construct fabric items using sewing machine and performs hand tacking on fabrics.
Remove, install and repair slide fasteners, grommets, snap fasteners and Velcro closures on personal survival equipment and other type fabrics.
Orders required survival equipment and supplies.
Install and test emergency radios in survival vest.
May be required to perform collateral duty inspection or CD QAR functions.
Identifies and treats corrosion.
Completes applicable maintenance forms.
Briefs and debriefs flight personnel on use and condition of survival equipment.
Maintains cleanliness of work center.
Complies with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, and Tool Control Programs.
Assist as directed to ensure safety, security and preservation of Government/Company Owned equipment.
Performs other related duties as required.
Deals with the customer in courteous, professional and effective manner.
May be required to perform off-site service on assigned detachments.
Must be able to travel at least 25% of the time. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Standards:
Must have a minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of U.S. Navy PR school or equivalent Air Force or Army PR school. Must have three (3) years' experience, within the last seven (7) years, in aviators personal survival equipment and aircraft installed safety/survival equipment maintenance.
Must be able to meet any Government/Company licensing/qualification requirements for the position. Must have a valid state DL upon hire.
Must be able to obtain and maintain CAC and clearance required by Government.
Physical Demands:
This classification activity is usually accomplished in a hangar/shop/flight line environment and as such requires the scope of physical movements and postures normally associated with these activities. May be required to lift objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 pounds. Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.
Work Environment:
The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. May be exposed to electrical shock hazards. May work near moving mechanical parts.
