Position Summary

Practicing Complex Family Planning at the University of New Mexico means holistic work to improve reproductive healthcare in this state. We provide care both locally and with partner sites that serve people from throughout the Southwest. We are clinical teachers of students, residents and fellows. We lead research that is clinically significant to our patients with an eye to addressing health inequities through community-academic partnerships. Our work is multidisciplinary; our patients' health hinges on access to excellent clinical care and navigation of complex medical and health related social needs.

At the University of New Mexico, we celebrate our tradition of inclusion and recognize that our success as an institution depends on its ongoing renewal. As such, the University of New Mexico places a high priority on creating an academic environment that fosters the success of people historically underrepresented in medicine. We are seeking a complex family planning specialist that will contribute actively to the climate of diversity and inclusivity. We invite applications for an open rank, open track full-time faculty position in Complex Family Planning. UNM's Complex Family Planning Division has an established and growing fellowship, has a busy clinical practice, is active in research and education, and builds partnerships across the state to expand access in rural and under-served areas. Our faculty enjoy internal and external funding opportunities and a seasoned departmental research coordination team.

The University of New Mexico, Health Sciences Center is the largest academic health complex in the state. HSC combines its four mission areas - education, research, patient care and community outreach - to provide New Mexicans with the highest level of healthcare. The School of Medicine at HSC is celebrated for its innovations in medical education and has earned a reputation for making diversity in the physician workforce a priority. Albuquerque is a beautiful city with mountains to the east and a mesa to the west and is renowned for its fantastic weather. Outdoor activities are abundant and the cost of living is moderate, while offering all the amenities of a large city. The state of New Mexico is multicultural and diverse with excellent local cuisine, breathtaking sunsets, multiple cultural and historic sites, lakes, rivers, deserts and mountains.

We are seeking a physician-scientist with a strong track record in advancing complex family planning through innovative research within a collaborative and supportive academic environment. Our ideal partner wants to provide outstanding care for patients, aspires to innovate in population care and research, and has a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and student success, as well as working and performing research with broadly diverse communities. This position offers a competitive compensation (salary commensurate with experience) and benefits package to include health, professional liability and disability insurance, relocation support, retirement plan, and CME support.
