Job Description

The Cybersecurity Engineer will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and detecting cyber events and incidents across information systems and networks under general supervision. This role involves assisting with the integration of dynamic cyber defense strategies, coordinating and maintaining security tools and practices, and supporting an organization's continuous monitoring and ongoing authorization programs. The Cybersecurity Engineer will contribute to establishing a framework for quantifying cyber risk in the marketplace, enabling better measurement and mitigation of cyber threats.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyze information systems and network activity for potential cyber events and incidents.

  • Detect, report, and respond to cybersecurity incidents and potential threats under general supervision.

  • Assist in maintaining and improving integrated cyber defense strategies to protect organizational assets.

  • Coordinate the implementation and maintenance of security toolsets and practices to support continuous monitoring and authorization programs.

  • Establish and maintain frameworks for measuring and quantifying cyber risks across the organization, contributing to marketplace risk analysis.

  • Ensure compliance with organizational cybersecurity policies and procedures.

  • Provide support in identifying vulnerabilities and implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.

  • Collaborate with other IT and security teams to ensure security measures are in place and functioning as expected.

  • Stay updated on current cybersecurity threats, trends, and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

  • 12 years' experience with Master's degree; will consider 14 years' experience with Bachelor's degree or 18 years' experience with no degree

  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, practices, and tools for monitoring and detecting cyber events.

  • Experience in initiating, supervising, and/or developing project requirements from inception to conclusion for complex or extremely complex programs.

  • Ability to provide strategic advice, technical guidance, and expertise to project teams and organizational staff.

  • Knowledge of continuous monitoring, dynamic cyber defense, and risk management frameworks.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working within a federal government or large-scale enterprise environment is a plus.

  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CEH are desirable.
