Overview
Dr. Zhongde Wang's laboratory in the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences at Utah State University has an opening for an hourly position for a Research Technician working as a team member with postdocs, graduate students and undergraduate students to conduct research focusing on developing genetically engineered animal models.

Responsibilities
Working with research associates, postdocs, graduate students to conduct molecular/cellular biology, embryology, and genetic engineering research, including but not limited to:
  • Laboratory animal (rodent) breeding, taking care of animals, including feeding animals, changing cages, breeding and weaning animals, and genotyping analysis
  • Other types of animal handling, including surgeries, tissue collection, and post-surgical animal monitoring and care, and records management
  • Culture and other in vitro manipulations of animal cells, oocytes, and embryos
  • Help to maintain lab (monitoring and maintaining lab equipment, general lab chores)
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate or Master's degree in biology, Animal Sciences, or a related field
  • Previous experience with breeding rodents and genotyping analysis
  • Ability to plan and carry out complex laboratory procedures
  • Reliable, self-motivated, hard-working, and detail-oriented
  • Flexible with working schedules

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Passionate about the research in developing using animal models and care about the animals

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to anticipate project needs and plan carefully to optimize resources necessary for successful project completion
  • Communication skills sufficient to permit clear and effective exchange of information with people representing a wide diversity of disciplines
  • Great team player
