Position Description:

The Department of Business Analytics within the Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa invites applications for a 100%-time postdoctoral research scholar position starting August 1, 2025. The postdoctoral research scholar will have the opportunity to collaborate with various Business Analytics faculty and may engage in multiple research projects with different faculty. The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal dependent on funding and satisfactory performance. Position is temporary and includes benefits.

Salary will be $61,008 to commensurate with qualifications. Appropriate background checks (e.g. criminal background and credential checks) will be conducted.

The Department

The Department of Business Analytics in the Tippie College of Business has been at the forefront of research in Analytics for decades and, as the recipient of the2021 INFORMS UPS George D. Smith Prize, was recently honored as a top department in the world for preparing students for careers in analytics. The department has research strengths in predictive analytics in the areas of health care, social issues, text, and social media, and faculty members have developed key methodologies in data mining, social-network analysis and mathematical optimization. The department is also internationally known for work in supply-chain design and transportation.

Education Requirement:


  • An earned doctorate or strong evidence that the doctoral degree will be completed before August 1, 2025 in Applied Mathematics, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Informatics/Information Sciences, Logistics, Management Science, Operations Management/Supply Chain, Statistics, or any related field.


Required Qualifications:


  • Demonstrated potential for publishing high-quality research.


Desirable Qualifications:


  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment.
