S&ME is currently seeking an experienced and passionate engineer to lead and manage our statewide Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) practice in Indiana as our CEI Manager/Practice Leader. This individual must be based near one of our Indiana offices: Indianapolis, New Albany/Louisville KY, or Evansville.

What You Will Do:

As the CEI Manager/Practice Leader, you'll oversee the growth and success of our team of project managers and CEI inspectors by fostering partnerships with Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and other consulting firms, managing existing contracts, and overseeing transportation projects. A successful CEI Manager/Practice Leader will embody S&ME's culture, promoting teamwork and inclusivity, while also challenging and nurturing staff to excel. Key responsibilities include devising and executing growth strategies, understanding market dynamics, ensuring quality service delivery, identifying business opportunities, championing strategic projects, and collaborating with regional and service line leadership. Your performance will be measured by various KPIs, including revenue growth, employee retention, audit scores, and client satisfaction.




  • Developing and executing targeted strategies to expand the CEI program.
  • Leveraging market knowledge to adapt approaches for maximum effectiveness in Indiana.
  • Ensuring top-tier project delivery while identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
  • Acting as a strategic leader for high-profile CEI projects and working with regional leadership.
  • Driving success through measurable goals like revenue growth, team retention, and client satisfaction metrics.



What We're Looking For:

We want a results-driven professional with extensive experience in INDOT project supervisor and/or program management who thrives in leadership and business development roles. You should have:



  • 20+ years of CEI-related project/program management or project supervisor experience with INDOT
  • Strong marketing and business development skills in addition to contacts/relationships within the CEI practice
  • A proven track record of success winning and delivering opportunities for multiple clients within the market
  • A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Indiana, or the ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or Design-Build Professional certification (DBIA) certifications, a plus not a requirement
