Job Description

Veterinarians throughout the Midwest refer animal clients to the Veterinary Health Center (VHC) for specialized diagnoses and treatment. With sophisticated therapeutic equipment that includes an underwater treadmill, advanced imaging techniques, and groundbreaking equine lameness diagnostic equipment, we are a center for animal healthcare.

We are seeking candidates for an open Part Time Central Supply Clerk to join the team of the VHC. The critical support role is responsible for ordering, receiving, stocking, and distributing items from the central supply stores. Additionally, this position assisting with the collection and distribution of mail throughout the Veterinary Health Center. This position is responsible for operating a forklift and maintaining a clean, sage, courteous work environment.

Typical job duties include:

  • Orders supplies and equipment needed for facility, faculty and staff.
  • Stocks Central Stores; stock areas with necessary supplies. Utilizes the forklift when necessary.
  • Monitors inventory dates to prevent expiration or contamination.
  • Counts inventory daily and monthly to ensure adequate supplies are kept in stock.
  • Receives inventory and inspects for damaged product upon arrival.
  • Stocks and distributes supplies, mail to appropriate departments.
  • Reconciles inventory and transfers of products into databases for billing.
  • Identifies and reports missing products or errors in billing to supervisor.
  • Performs inventory analysis via the computer.
  • Monitors supply room to ensure security of supplies.
  • Maintains and cleans shelf products, equipment and work areas to ensure safety guidelines are met.
  • Assists with auditing, filing and order and mail delivery.
  • Willingness to assist in areas around Central Supply to maintain a clean and safe environment for all.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This position primarily works in warehouse setting, but also throughout the facility and external building/s; bends, lifts, sits, stands, squats and moves frequently throughout the shift; deal with frequent interruptions and contact with staff, faculty, visitors and residents. Participates in required continuing education programs; subject to odors, falls and required to clean work areas.

Shift

This is a part-time position. Works regularly scheduled shifts Wednesday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. May be subject to change based on the needs of the Veterinary Health Center.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Clerical aptitude and some knowledge of basic store keeping procedures.
  • Good physical condition and coordination to permit the lifting of heavy objects.
  • Possession of a valid state driver's license may be necessary for some positions.

  • Organizational Skills: Completes assignments in an organized fashion by the end of the scheduled shifts and operates proactively and demonstrates flexibility; shows attention to detail through the course of the tracking, ordering supplies; keeps supply logs and work areas neat, orderly and organized.
  • Customer Service: Treats all co-workers and supervisors with dignity and respect and takes initiative to exceed customer expectations; professionally represents the facility, self and position to visitors and residents; demonstrates a positive attitude and wiliness to help all visitors and residents; remains sensitive to all needs through listening, observing and responding appropriately for the position held.
  • Communication Skills: Effectively communicates verbally and non-verbally with all departments, vendors, residents, etc.; exercises good listening skills to identify facility needs; remain approachable to all.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $15.00 per hour
Grade: GGS-C
