About the Position

The Senior Practice Director is responsible for leadership and management of the Conflict Prevention and Stabilization Practice within Dexis' International Development (IDEV) division. The Conflict Prevention and Stabilization practice provides technical and operational excellence for field-based, United States Government (USG)-funded stabilization, conflict prevention, and peacebuilding programming, including projects funded by the Bureau for Conflict Prevention and Stabilization and the Office of Transition Initiatives (OTI).

The Senior Practice Director is responsible for the full lifecycle of programming at Dexis, including business development, project management, and home office staff management. The Senior Practice Director serves as a corporate leader to advance practice, division, and corporate goals. The Senior Practice Director leads proposals, builds and maintains client and partner relationships, supports external industry engagement, and oversees complex USAID-funded proposals, projects, and initiatives. The Senior Practice Director supervises senior leaders including IDIQ managers and may also support field programs on a short-term basis as needed in a technical, operational, or management capacity.


Responsibilities

General Responsibilities:



  • Brings organizational resources to bear on conflict prevention and stabilization projects by collaborating with business development, human resources, finance, contracts, and other support departments to ensure successful bid and start-up management and project implementation.
  • Manages the project quality support team, the conflict and violence prevention practice, and the stabilization PMUs to maximize cross collaboration of resources.
  • Oversees the indirect budget for the practice and monitors progress against revenue targets.
  • Provides guidance and mentoring to other staff on technical trends, tools, and approaches.


Business Development:



  • Responsible for overseeing a yearly pipeline of business development opportunities over $250M and maintaining a 25% win rate.
  • Ensures the quality of bids by reviewing capture plans, participating in technical design, and conducting technical reviews.
  • Leads capture efforts for conflict prevention and stabilization-related bids.
  • Serves as technical lead for relevant proposals, including guiding recruitment, technical, partnering, and cost decision-making.
  • Cultivates relationships with the Bureau for Conflict Prevention and Stabilization and other USAID, Department of State, and Department of Defense offices and agencies.
  • Maximizes Dexis' position under IDIQs held.


Technical Leadership:



  • Represents Dexis at relevant industry forums, technical working groups, events, internal learning exchanges, and conferences.
  • Reviews and/or contributes to blogs, white papers, and case studies.
  • Provides technical advice and consultation to project management units, field offices, and new business teams.


Project Management:



  • Responsible for maintaining project quality by managing client satisfaction, revenue and profitability as measured by CPARS, revenue targets and gross margin targets.
  • Works with COPs and PMUs to manage project issues.
  • Works with the Contracts team to ensure that procurements, subcontracts and grants for projects comply with USAID and Dexis policies.
  • Undertakes billable work for Dexis projects as needed.


Leadership and Team Management:



  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate staff, communicating clear performance goals and standards, offering regular performance feedback, ensuring effectively-run meetings, and maintaining an open-door policy.
  • Promote staff development through coaching, mentoring, and facilitating professional growth opportunities.
  • Create a productive and motivating work environment for staff by promoting cooperation and teamwork across departments, staying abreast of management, leadership, and team building strategies and advocating for them.
  • Promote and exemplify values and ethical standards and manages staff to achieve team and development objectives.
  • Lead documentation and open-sharing of best practices and important innovations company-wide, including in the field.
  • In coordination with HR, participate in the Dexis formal performance management and assessment process; support supervisors and client points of contacts to clearly articulate performance goals and standards, provide regular feedback, and provide overall professional advancement advice and direction to supervisees.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree - preferably in a relevant field, including but not limited to political science, international development, or international relations. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum offifteen (15) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, including:

    • At least three (3) years of supervisory experience, and
    • A minimum of ten (10) years working on donor-funded or government-funded projects in a related role.


  • Exceptional communications skills, including ability to represent Dexis with diverse audiences at marketing events and in multiple cultural contexts.
  • Fluency in USAID contracts required, experience in contract and grants management highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellence in field-based technical support on field programs.
  • Strong business development experience from capture to proposal development.
  • Ability to mentor and coach staff in a full range of tasks.
  • Experience living and working in a conflict affected country preferred.

Below is the pay range aligned with this position. When developing a range, Dexis evaluates compensation holistically, triangulating between external market research, our budget for the position, and internal equity to arrive at a figure that is fair and competitive. Offers within this range will be based on an individual candidate's qualification, relevant education and experience, skills, performance, and organizational needs.

Dexis pay range for this role:
$140,000 $200,000 USD
