The HIT (Health Information & Technology) Project Management Specialist, Sr. oversees small-to-extra-large sized, technology projects and enterprise programs. They assemble project teams, assign individual responsibilities, develop project schedules and determine resources needed, as well as coordinate other PMs in a program setting. They are familiar with the entire scope and requirements of the project/program and serve as liaison between HIT and the functional area management and executives. Recognized as technical project management resource within the Medical Center with skills in performing highly-complex, longer-term, strategically-significant assignments, they are generally given significant latitude to devise the approach and method to performing assignments. Coordinates and works in partnership with the UVA Program Management Office (PMO) to follow UVA standards for project work. Their assignments are typically multi-faceted and may be cross-discipline, requiring significant coordination and planning. They work under general supervision, seeking assistance when significant deviations are proposed, or when unprecedented problems arise. They serve as a resource, and provide guidance to HIT Leadership on complex problems, work processes, and policies. They provide input on project staffing/hiring decisions and project-related performance, though they do not have supervisory responsibilities over team members. Their interactions are generally with HIT leaders/team members, Medical Center leaders/team members, and external vendors and service providers.
