Job Summary

Mesa Community College is seeking driven applicants for a Human Resources Specialist Senior position on our Staffing team. The ideal candidate fosters collaboration with a service excellence focus, has experience working with diverse work groups, employs attention to detail, and successfully manages their time. The ability to clearly and concisely communicate with applicants, hiring managers, and search committees on the recruitment and selection of employees is critical. The individual selected for this role will be a problem solver and possess critical thinking skills in order to manage simultaneous tasks/projects while adhering to established process and policy.

Essential Functions

60% Coordinates recruitment efforts for all employment categories, to include: working with hiring managers on search plan requirements; verifying position data; completing job postings; advertising; assisting applicants; screening and routing of applicants; scheduling interviews; reviewing paperwork; conducting background checks and verifications of employment; validating credentials/transcripts; preparing pay placements; processing job offers; assisting in the documentation of new employees; inputting data with high degree of accuracy; archiving search materials; updating personnel files and tracking spreadsheets; maintaining confidentiality; committing to upholding diversity and equality in employment practices

20% Development of forms/templates and internal procedures; may coordinate with supervisor on coaching and/or presentations pertinent to staffing functions; assists in maintaining position information in the Human Capital Management (HCM) system; maintains databases and records; runs queries and prepares reports; composes correspondence; uses multiple shared document resources

15% Communicates and advises on detailed human resources policies, procedures, and practices; maintains compliance with pertinent laws and regulations; uses critical thinking to resolve various employment issues and situations; liaises with district office on processes and problem solving; troubleshoots HCM technical issues; coordinates with internal constituencies, such as the Scheduling or Fiscal offices, with details in the Student Information System (SIS), Fiscal Management System (FMS), or Budget Development System (BDS)

5% Backs up other teams in the office, including front counter intake as needed; participates or leads assigned District and/or college special projects; maintains currency in the field through training opportunities and by attending regular HR meetings; performs related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two years of human resources program support experience related to area of assignment. Area of assignment includes recruitment, staffing, hiring, classification OR any HR experience.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

A. Experience implementing and/or supporting Human Resources full cycle recruitment activities

B. Experience working in education or public sector

C. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Management, or Organizational Leadership

D. Demonstrated experience providing customer in writing, in person, and over the phone

E. Experience using an online human resources system

Special Working Conditions

Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense

May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
