Job Summary
Effectively leads and manages the University's wide-ranging efforts to recruit and enroll new first-year students in traditional academic programs.
Salary Range
Essential Functions

  • Directly supervises staff responsible for the day-to-day student recruitment of the first-year and ELSA populations.
  • Ensures the execution of daily tasks of assigned staff in an effort to lead movement at each step of the inquiry funnel.
  • Serves as a key member of the leadership team that develops and executes the annual recruitment plan using industry best practices at each stage of the enrollment funnel to meet new traditional student enrollment expectations and to meet the goals of the university's strategic plan.
  • Coordinates the Admission Review Board for borderline applicants.
  • Collaborates with vendors, the Office of Marketing and Communication, the Director of Admission Marketing and assigned staff on marketing materials and communications flow for all print, electronic and web channels.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Student Financial Services to monitor student financial aid programs at the institutional, state and federal levels, working to maintain consistency with all regulations while also partnering with consultants to review financial aid strategies and merit scholarship programs to yield targeted student populations and meet net tuition revenue goals of the university.
  • Provides professional development opportunities for counseling staff, and creates and executes staff retention strategies.
  • Serves as a representative for the Office of Admission to campus colleagues, committees and councils, and to the larger community.
  • Creates and sustains a comprehensive program of effective advocacy for the university with secondary schools and organizations.
  • Coordinates support efforts with academic and administrative departments and external agencies to meet enrollment and net tuition revenue goals.
  • Conducts research on trends, developments and policies affecting university choice patterns among students, and distributes significant information to appropriate staff and offices.
  • Utilizes Technolutions Slate and Ellucian Colleague to collect, maintain and evaluate statistical data on student recruitment activities and prepares reports for internal and external use.
  • Ensures accuracy and integrity of data collection and reporting for first-year students.
  • Collaborates with vendors to ensure the productivity and optimization of partnerships.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a leadership role in a demanding professional environment.
  • At least five years previous management experience in a college or university admission office.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain high professional standards.
  • Ability to effectively represent the mission and vision of the university to the larger community.
  • Well-developed skills in verbal/written communication.
  • Technological proficiency and adaptability.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • High school and other visits are performed in personal automobile, costs reimbursed.
  • Ability to carry and lift display and promotion material, approximately 50 pounds.
  • Evening and weekend hours as assigned.
  • Ability to travel locally, and in designated out-of-area territories.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Requires in-office/on campus presence and representation. Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
