Job Summary

This position starts on August 15, 2025.

Looking for talented faculty who want to create an impactful learning experience for our students! GCC is interested in those who embrace our mission to serve and have a passion to guide our students into a future of change and innovation.

Faculty member will instruct a diverse population of Administration of Justice Studies (AJS) and Law Enforcement Training Academy (LETA) students. This role involves teaching, offering career and academic guidance, oversees, and assessing students from various backgrounds, using traditional, hybrid, and online methods, following Maricopa (MCCCD) and Glendale Community College (GCC) policies. The role may also be involved in dual enrollment and the coordination of the Law Enforcement Training Academy (LETA) including requirements for AzPOST and HLC accreditation of the LETA program. Develop and enhance knowledge of subject matter taught and individual training skills required to remain current with new trends and developments in the field; maintain office hours to assist and advise students; participate actively in department and college functions.

Essential Functions
  • Oversee and instruct students and/or police recruits from diverse backgrounds in classroom, lab, and/or online settings, using a variety of presentation techniques, in Administration of Justice and Law Enforcement Training programs. Evaluate knowledge of subject matter taught and monitor students' scholastic records; prepare and grade exams
  • Assist and respond to problems/requests from students during in-person office hours, virtual office hours and electronic communication
  • Serve as a liaison to various criminal justice agencies, public safety, law enforcement, and Arizona Peace Officer Training and Standards certification officials, as directed by the Department Chair and Program Directors
  • Research, develop, and implement AJS and LETA courses, as well as remain current in developments within the fields to research, develop and implement updated instructional programs. This includes developing course syllabi and materials that include learning-centered and equity-minded strategies to engage students and promote student success: creating instructional materials and developing curriculum that demonstrates innovation in teaching by focusing on student learning, retention, and achievement; incorporates instructional technology and alternative delivery of courses; instructs in both traditional and non-traditional settings such as Learning Communities, short term courses, hybrid and on-line courses; college and departmental assessment tools; participate in continuous assessment, evaluation and improvement of teaching and learning
  • Serve on collaborative work teams with faculty, staff, administration and community stakeholders, keep Department hours and accountability; engage in the academic life of the college by participating in district-wide, campus and Departmental activities including Department meetings, committees and projects
  • Remain current with new trends and developments in the fields through attendance of conferences, seminars, and workshops and active engagement with the criminal justice community
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

For occupational disciplines, a combination of education and/or experience is required to qualify. A faculty may qualify with any of the following:
  • Five years of occupational experience in the field to be taught OR
  • Three years of occupational experience in the field to be taught and a Bachelor's degree or higher OR
  • A Master's degree or higher in the teaching field OR
  • A Master's degree or higher in any field with 18 graduate credits in the teaching field OR
  • A Master's degree or higher in any field with a combination of 24 upper division and/or graduate credits in the teaching field


Desired Qualifications
  1. Five (5) or more years of occupational experience in the field of Administration of Justice, Criminal Justice, Public Safety Administration, Law, Forensics, or a related field
  2. Master's Degree or higher in Administration of Justice, Public Safety Administration, Law, Forensics, or related field or any Master's degree with 18 credit hours in Administration of Justice, Public Safety Administration, Law, Forensics, or related field
  3. Three (3) or more years of experience in a leadership position in a criminal justice organization
  4. Experience teaching higher education courses such as: Administration of Justice, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement Training, or Forensics using online, hybrid, or in-person delivery methods
  5. Three (3) or more years' experience developing, teaching or supervising law enforcement training (or a combination that equals three years)
  6. Experience developing course materials including measurable learning outcomes for Administration of Justice, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement Training, or Forensics courses
  7. Experience with concurrent enrollment/dual enrollment programs


Special Working Conditions

  • Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense
  • Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations
  • May require numerous evenings or weekends
  • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen

  • Must be an AzPOST General Instructor or able to gain Special Instructor status through AzPOST
