JOB SUMMARY:
- This position will assist with the inventory costing process, journal entries, reconciliations. This position will work closely with: a) vendors to confirm pricing based on the market indices as agreed upon in long-term contracts and spot deals, b) Commercial Group to ensure correct pricing for invoicing, c) Production Analysis Group to ensure receipts are accounted for in accordance with contractual obligations and d) Supply Chain Group to accrue inbound freight costs.
JOB ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Compute monthly production costs using weighted average cost method which includes allocating energy & fixed costs to products.
- Prepare monthly reconciliation of all finished goods inventories for volumes and amounts.
- Record and confirm all product exchange activities with third parties.
- Record and reconcile transactions in Leasing module.
- Prepare and record monthly journal entries.
- Prepare monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
- Prepare monthly reports for management.
- Tracks logistics and strategic sourcing savings
- Understands manufacturing flow and its impact on inventory valuation and costing.
- Analyze purchasing, inventory management, and logistics theories and their financial impacts.
- Prepares and provides Supply Chain cost center owners monthly detailed expense reports and works with them to understand and document variances vs. budget, forecast, and prior year.
- Support continuous improvement efforts throughout the Supply Chain process.
- Ensures monthly financial close for Supply Chain is completed in a disciplined and timely manager that complies with the corporate financial closing calendar.
- Analyzes complex issues and improve or adapt methods and techniques.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- 1-4 years' experience in a corporate accounting function and experience in general ledger, supply chain, and weighted average inventory costing.
- Demonstrated strong technical accounting knowledge and skills (i.e., GAAP, production and inventory costing, recovery cost analysis
- ERP experience required; knowledge of Oracle preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, strong analytical and reconciliation skills are required.
- Demonstrated self-starter with the ability to function autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to evaluate and analyze data, trends, and other factors to explain variances and identify errors.
- Must have the ability to maintain productive relationships with employees in other departments.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Chemical/Petrochemical accounting experience preferred.
- Oracle ERP systems experience
- Business Intelligence systems experience
- Ability to multi-task.
- Requires broad knowledge of accounting practices and principles.

- Ability to steer the course of action that determines the achievement of results within a major functional unit or department.
