Job Summary

Electrocardiography Services

The Senior EKG Tech performs noninvasive cardiac procedures such as Electrocardiogram, Holter Monitor, Event Recorder, Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring, Late Potential Analysis, and Cardiac Stress Test on inpatients and outpatients. Extensive knowledge of cardiac arrhythmia is needed for EKGs, holter/event monitor procedures, and cardiac stress tests. The Senior EKG Tech assists in providing EKG training for student volunteers, and medical/nursing staff. Computer knowledge is required to operate clinical computer systems. The position also requires the ability to perform basic clerical procedures including scheduling, ling and answering phone calls, and demonstrates and maintains current knowledge and skill to provide appropriate care for patients. #CA-SB

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • American Heart Association (AHA) BLS CPR Certification or UCDH-issued CPR Certification
  • High school graduate or equivalent work experience
  • Graduate of an EKG Technician certification program
  • At least one (1) year of experience as an EKG Tech or Telemetry Technician
  • Ability to operate various clinical equipment (i.e. EKG machine, treadmill, ambulatory monitors, computer systems). Ability to provide educational training to patients, staff and students. Ability to read, write, take accurate messages, answer phones and enter data into computer systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) or Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT)
  • Experience performing procedures on all age groups, i.e. infant, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Experience performing EKGs, Exercise Stress procedures, Ambulatory monitors, as well as hook-up, removal and processing of Holter, Event, and Blood Pressure monitor procedures. Experience with cardiac rhythm interpretation.

Department Overview

The Electrocardiography Services Department, better known as the EKG Lab, provides several cardiac lab services. These services include EKGs, holter monitors, zio patches, ambulatory blood pressure monitors, treadmill tests or stress tests and more. The EKG team consists of Board-Certified Cardiologists, Nurse Practitioners, and trained EKG Technicians.
