Job Title: Technical Writer

Location(s): Oakland, CA

Technical Writer supports document authors with formatting and grammatical reviews of manuals, standards, procedures, and bulletins to ensure content flow efficiently, is easily consumable and follows process flow if available. Compiles and maintains an inventory of all relevant guidance documents to identify gaps, overdue or outdated documents and provide metrics or reports on documentation availability, aging and in revision progress. Collaborates with internal document owners to develop a schedule for revisions, publications and communications of updates to appropriate audience. Serve as Guidance Document Library (GDL) subject matter expert in the submission and publishing process for supported organizations.

Take complex technical information and make it clear and easy-to-understand for a non-technical audience. Produces Manuals and Guides, including Standards, Guidelines, Procedure, Process Maps

MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint experience

Flowcharts and organization charts development (iGrafx Preferred, Visio is acceptable) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Desired

High standards for writing, detail, editing, and information design that lead to accurate, concise, usable, highly-polished content

User-focused approach to documentation planning, design, and content strategy

TOP THINGS:


  • Document Mgmt Experience within large company.
  • Standard and Procedure proofing experience.
  • Proficient in MS O365, MS Power Apps and PowerBI is desired.


Education Minimum:


  • BA/BS in English, Technical Writing, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of Technical Writing, content management, process improvement, in the development of a wide range of IT documentation deliverables.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiar with Client policies and procedures with regard to information technology, and Company Guidance Document Management (GDM) standards.
  • Fully competent in Microsoft Office applications and SharePoint.
  • Proficient in documentation technologies and processes.
  • Good verbal communication skills to collaborate with peers, content owners and collect necessary information for documents.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good multi-tasking, adaptability, and organizational skills.
