Job Summary:

University Housing is hiring an HR Generalist!

The HR Generalist provides support and assistance to University Housing's career employment and student employment programs. This position will support a variety of full lifecycle employment activities (recruiting, hiring, job or organizational changes, separations), as well as a variety of divisional employment initiatives and programs. Additionally, the HR Generalist will serve as the primary role to maintain and staff our HR front office functions, including greeting and assisting walk-in customers, answering the phone, maintaining office supplies, etc.

This position is partial remote and joins an employment team of 7, within an HR department of 13. This is a high volume and customer service-focused role serving a variety of departments. We are a dynamic, 24/7 division that employs a diverse employee population of approximately 500 full time staff and 1,700 student employees. Come join our team!


Responsibilities:
Provides human resources (HR) information and support to a work unit regarding more than one HR functional area to ensure timely and accurate transaction processing. Maintains personnel records and assists with work unit operational policy development.

  • 25% Provides consultation, performs analytics, and/or maintains personnel files, communications, and materials for work unit through various mediums
  • 30% Executes and audits work transactions and changes adhering to established policies and procedures to meet anticipated deadlines
  • 30% Receives, responds to, and resolves employee questions and problems
  • 5% Represents unit/program at institutional workshops, informational meetings, and training sessions
  • 10% Contributes to the development, implementation, interpretation, and revision of work unit Human Resources policies and procedures according to institutional and legal rules and regulations


Tasks:

  • Assists with development and execution of divisional employment programs, initiatives, and employee life-cycle pieces, such as recruiting, hiring, job or organizational changes, separations, etc.
  • Maintains the HR Office, including monitoring office equipment and assisting with maintenance as needed, coordinating incoming and outgoing mail, and maintaining office supplies.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for individuals and groups, greeting arrivals and provides organizational information via phone, in person and through other communication mediums.
  • Provides support and assists as needed in the implementation of plans and procedures in the event of an emergency.

Qualifications:

A minimum of one (1) year of relevant Human Resources (HR) experience is required.

PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP or the ability to obtain one of these certifications in one to two years preferred.

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

This position is partially remote. During the initial training period this position is anticipated to work approximately four days per week in-office, with the possibility of additional flexibility after the first six months.

Depending on Qualifications
This is a full-time appointment. The starting annual salary is $54,000 or higher based on qualifications and includes a competitive retirement and benefits package.

Actual pay is determined at hire and is based on qualifications and experience. Individuals paid above the minimum rate would be expected to demonstrate the experience and required knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position in a similar environment.

Additional Information:

Primary schedule is 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Extra hours as priorities dictate. Final schedule will be determined at time of offer.
