Software Development Engineer

Peraton is looking for a Senior Java Software Engineer in Melbourne, FL (or optionally Herndon, VA) to support Intelligence Community and DoD customers as part of a talented, high-performing team. As part of this team, you will work with emerging service and distributed computing technologies for the implementation and maintenance of Distributed Ground Terminal Systems.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain Java software systems. Some of these techniques include but are not limited to, event-driven or state-driven programming, error logging, and exception handling.
• Perform TS/SCI software analysis, architecture, engineering, and integration services at the unit, module, and system levels.
• Perform all aspects of software engineering support required to implement highly integrated systems.
• Adhere to open standards and modern software development methodologies, including what is considered 'best' practices by Industry to the extent that operational requirements will allow.
• Work with Ground Terminal (GT) Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to design, develop, and maintain GT management software systems.
• Provide technical reports, white papers and other documentation as required to documents findings of all software engineering service activities.

Required Qualifications:

• An Associates degree with 10+ years of relevant experience; or Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience; In lieu of degree, high school and 12 years of of experience will be considered.
• This position requires the candidate possess a minimum of Top Secret/SCI clearance and pass a polygraph within 30 days of employment or at customers request- contract requires TS/SCI with poly. The candidate must maintain the clearance.
• Demonstrated experience in Java 11 or later including usage of Stream APIs, Future APIs, Lambdas, and other modern Java development features.
• Experience building applications in Spring Framework/Spring Boot.
• Experience with Java Persistence Architecture (JPA) and hibernate
• Experience with SQL relational databases especially MariaDB.
• Experience developing and testing software that directly interacts with hardware components such as modems, antennas, timing equipment, etc.
• Experience working within Linux (RedHat).
• Experience configuring, managing, and using Jenkins, JIRA, Confluence, BitBucket, and GIT.
• Experience with software development IDEs such as Eclipse, IntelliJ, Netbeans, etc.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience working in an Agile or SAFe agile environment.
• Experience using Angular to develop single page web-applications.
• Experience with various programming/scripting languages including Python, Go, and Bash.
• Experience with the OS/COMET product.
• Demonstrated experience with Software Design including an understanding of Software Design Patterns and Enterprise Integration Patterns.
• Demonstrated understanding of Spring Framework/Spring Boot concepts such as Auto Configuration, Custom Starters, Filters, WebFlux, AOP, Security, External/Distributed Configuration.
• Experience with Java synthesization tools (i.e. Lombok, MapStruct, etc.)
• Background in physics, mathematics, and/or aerospace.
