Administrative Assistant I

The Salvation Army Midland Divisional Headquarters located in St. Louis, Missouri, is looking for a Administrative Assistant! This position is responsible for the coordination and implementation of administrative procedures for the Service Extension Department that supports the department's daily and long-term operations, projects, and programs. The Service Extension Administrative Assistant works closely with the Divisional and Associate Director of Service Extension providing excellent executive support and leveraging skills to further department goals.

This position is a full-time position with starting pay between $21.18 - $26.47 based upon experience.

Essential Functions



  • Perform interdepartmental clerical support functions.
  • Prepare reports and maintain departmental databases.
  • Process check requests, supply orders, work orders and similar requests.
  • Provide and process general emergency social services vouchers.
  • Assist in preparing items to be submitted for approval of the Divisional Finance Board.
  • Monitor general trends in data, requests from units, and feedback to assist leadership in strategic planning.
  • Maintain a follow up system that assists in timely completion of projects and goals.
  • Manage leadership calendars as requested.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with Salvation Army Safe From Harm guidelines.

Education and Experience



  • Two-years of college and two years of work-related experience or equivalent.
  • A combination of training and experience will be considered.
  • Proficient in computer word processing.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Capable of constructing and routing correspondence with little supervision.
  • Possess appropriate driver licenses and pass MVR check.
  • Must be a team player, a self-starter, able to handle several projects at the same time and perform well with minimal supervision.
  • Must be committed to providing excellent customer service to both internal and external clients, acting as an ambassador for all parties.



Physical Requirements



  • Must be capable of performing the above essential duties in an office environment including using a computer, answering phones, etc.
  • Most work will be indoors in a temperature-controlled environment.
  • During a response to a disaster, the work environment will most likely reflect the affected area.
  • Working outdoors will reflect seasonal weather and the initial response could require intensive manual labor operations.
