GENERAL FUNCTION: The Test & Trials Electrical Worker - A is responsible for trouble shooting electrical circuits and implementing testing procedures on all vessel equipment and systems, including sea trials, to ensure compliance with customer requirements and regulatory standards.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  • Conduct and complete all electrical testing and sea trials of vessels before customer acceptance.
  • Respond to inquiries from customers and regulatory agents regarding vessel testing.
  • Submit standard and special status test reports as required.
  • Address deficiencies identified during testing and report them.
  • Trouble shoot electrical circuit issues that hinder testing.
  • Trouble shoot and rewire motors, motor controllers, relay panels, program VFD's, test ships electrical systems, & trouble shoot and correct various other electrical system aboard vessels.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Extensive knowledge of the shipbuilding process, industry standards, and regulations.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision & the ability to interface effectively with customers, management, and employees across all areas within the division.
  • Experienced in motor controllers, lighting circuits, VFD's, transformers, DC voltage & AC voltage, & relays.
  • Required to know how to use multimeter in testing for volts, amps, resistance & continuity.
  • Strong trouble shooting ability to figure out issues within an electrical system.

EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:

  • Minimum of 4-year electrical experience in a marine electrical environment, or an equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
