Purpose of Position

The Regulatory Analyst will be responsible for monitoring regulatory compliance of lease and contract provisions on University Lands' mineral lands, maintaining well records pertinent to determining the validity of each lease and offering customer support for the filing of required regulatory documents. Daily correspondence with the operators on University Lands is necessary to ensure data compliance.

Essential Functions

  • Collect, analyze, and enter data received from the operators regarding well permitting, drilling and completion of wells, operator changes, consolidations, sub-divisions, down-hole commingles, etc. (RRC forms)
  • Monitor regulatory compliance of oil and gas operators on University Lands acreage.
  • Work with operators to ensure University Lands' well records are current and complete.
  • Create penalty invoices for regulatory non-compliance.
  • Provide industry education and assistance in reference to University Lands' data requirements and use of public website.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma and minimum 4 years' experience in right-of-way, land, leases, contracts, title, or related field.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree may substitute for up to two years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree or related field
  • 5 years' experience with Texas Oil and Gas regulatory forms
  • Experience working with the Texas Railroad Commission
Working Conditions

  • May work around standard office conditions.
Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to a minimum of 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. Participation in TRS is mandatory.

A background check will be conducted on candidates under final consideration. The background check may include any or all of the following: criminal history check, prior employment verification, education verification, professional references check, and motor vehicle records check. Background checks are conducted by third-party vendors. Upon request form the third-party vendor, candidates under final consideration must provide the required information for the background checks to be completed.
