Title: Quality Assurance Manager General Function: The Quality Assurance Manager assists in the management and implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with regulatory, code, and contractual standards. This role oversees welding procedure qualifications, welder performance qualification testing, non-destructive testing (NDT) procedures and personnel qualifications, and ensures that all products meet or exceed established standards. Typical Duties: The following responsibilities outline the key functions of the role and are not an exhaustive list:
- Perform QMS training across all disciplines.
- Conduct QMS internal audits for all disciplines.
- Evaluate, revise, or remove QMS procedures, work instructions, and forms as necessary.
- Supervise and support welding procedure qualifications.
- Document and support welder performance qualification testing.
- Oversee project-specific NDT requirements for supplier procurement.
- Supervise and support in-yard and 3rd party NDT personnel for project NDT requirements.
- Provide leadership and support for NDT lead personnel.
- Maintain written shipbuilding specifications and ensure compliance with rule, regulatory, and code requirements to meet contractual standards.
- Supervise and support customer and class inspections and manufacturing operations.
- Communicate concerns to class, customers, and management while working to resolve issues and improve processes.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 standards, project class rules, regulatory standards, and codes.
- In-depth understanding of shipbuilding processes, design, welding processes, and NDT requirements.
- Expertise in various NDT processes, including blueprint reading, radiographic film interpretation, ultrasonic thickness gauging, straight beam, shear wave, magnetic particle, and dye penetrant testing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other relevant software.
- Proven ability to supervise NDT personnel and monitor welding personnel to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interactions with all personnel levels, class representatives, and customers.
Experience & Training:
- Extensive experience in product inspection duties combined with a minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience.
- A combination of equivalent experience and training may be considered.
- ISO Standard and shipbuilding NDT experience are required.
