TSC is seeking a Corporate Safety Engineer to join our growing organization. The Corporate Safety Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety protocols across the company's logistics operations. This includes ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a safety culture throughout the organization. The Corporate Safety Engineer works closely with the Director of Logistics and other internal & external stakeholders to ensure that safety practices are integrated into all logistics functions, including transportation, inventory management, property management, and facilities operations. This position could be performed on a hybrid basis with the availability to travel to our sites as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety Strategy and Compliance:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive safety strategy for the company, ensuring alignment with legal standards such as OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
  • Ensure all logistics operations are conducted in a safe manner, minimizing risks to employees, facilities, and assets.

Risk Assessments and Audits:

  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments for logistics operations, including warehouses, transportation fleets, and facilities.
  • Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.

Safety Training and Culture:

  • Lead safety training programs for employees, ensuring that all staff understand safety procedures, emergency protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Foster a safety-first culture within the organization, encouraging accountability and compliance at all levels.

Incident Management and Reporting:

  • Develop and maintain incident reporting procedures, ensuring that all accidents and near misses are documented and investigated.
  • Implement corrective actions based on incident investigations to prevent future occurrences.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with the department members, and divisional leadership to ensure safety is integrated into all logistics functions.
  • Work closely with HR and other departments to align safety policies with broader corporate risk management initiatives.

Emergency Preparedness and Response:

  • Lead the development of emergency preparedness plans, including evacuation procedures, disaster recovery, and crisis management for all logistics operations.
  • Conduct regular safety drills and coordinate response efforts with local authorities when necessary.

Technology and Safety Systems:

  • Leverage safety management software and other technologies to track compliance, report incidents, and analyze safety performance.
  • Integrate technology solutions to enhance the visibility of safety risks and improve response times.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Develop and track KPIs for safety performance, including incident rates, compliance metrics, and employee safety training completion.
  • Report safety performance and key metrics to the Director of Logistics and executive leadership on a regular basis.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in occupational safety, industrial engineering, or a related field plus 8 or more years of relevant experience, preferably in safety management within logistics and/or supply chain environment.
  • Expertise in safety regulations, risk assessment, incident investigation, and safety training program development.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams or safety committees
  • Proven track record of leading safety audits and compliance initiatives across diverse locations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), or equivalent.
  • OSHA Trainer Certification, NEBOSH International General Certificate, or ISO 45001 Lead Auditor Certification
  • Strong analytical skills for incident investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies as they relate to safety.
