Summary
Responsible for designing and implementing therapeutic activities, such as art, music, movement, or other creative modalities, to enhance physical, emotional, and mental health through collaboration with other healthcare professionals to integrate expressive therapies into the holistic care of patients.
Essential Functions
Develop and implement individualized therapeutic programs using expressive therapies, tailored to meet the physical, emotional, and cognitive needs of patients.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to integrate expressive therapies into patient care plans.
Conduct initial assessments to determine the therapeutic needs of patients.
Establish therapeutic goals and objectives in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
Conduct one-on-one and group therapy sessions using various expressive modalities such as art, music, movement, and other creative interventions.
Adapt therapeutic approaches to accommodate the unique needs and preferences of each patient.
Encourage patient participation in therapeutic activities, fostering a positive and supportive environment.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of patients' assessments, progress, and participation in expressive therapy sessions.
Follows all established group therapy protocols.
Maintains contact with other clinical staff and unit leadership through participation in rounds, staff meetings, multi-disciplinary meetings, treatment planning meetings, and other meetings as necessary.
Alerts appropriate staff (e.g. Nurse Director, Medical and/or Clinical Director, Treatment Teams) of emergent clinical issues that occur during group sessions.
Participates in group therapy training opportunities when required.

Education
Master's Degree Expressive Therapies required or
Master's Degree Related Field of Study required

Licenses and Credentials
Social Worker, Licensed Independent Clinical [LICSW - State License] preferred

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist [State License] preferred

Occupational Therapist [State License] preferred

Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor [State License] preferred

Licensed Mental Health Counselor [State License] preferred

Experience

2-3 years experience in providing expressive therapy interventions or related therapy preferably in a clinical setting preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong knowledge of various expressive therapy modalities and their applications in healthcare.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse healthcare team.

Empathy and sensitivity to the needs of patients and their families.

Familiarity with electronic health records and documentation practices.

Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.
Managing one's own time and the time of others.
