Department OverviewOur customers are public safety agencies, governments and military organizations who use our mission critical communications systems. The Security Update Service (SUS) team, part of the Motorola Solutions Cybersecurity Services organization, protects mission critical systems by ensuring security updates are verified, tested, and installed. Job Description

As the Security Lab Administrator, you will be responsible for maintaining various environments used for evaluating security updates on mission critical systems. The goal is to ensure the systems are protected from cyber threats.

The Administrator is responsible for day to day operations including maintaining the lab infrastructure, coordinating with various product and development teams, and managing the lifecycle of the equipment from start to finish. The Administrator helps to develop and implement relevant policies and procedures to protect the security and privacy of information from intentional or unintentional damage. They assist in trouble-shooting technical issues and provide regular status updates of system security.

Responsibilities/Expectations:

  • Maintain testing equipment used for evaluation including security related patches

  • Be a technical and thought leader driving automation, analytics, and operational efficiencies

  • Promote innovation and forward thinking throughout the organization

  • Rack new equipment and remove old equipment as needed

  • Install, configure, and manage complex technologies to be used for testing purposes

  • Work with development teams to install and configure beta software and solutions

  • Establish connections with stakeholders and maintain positive relationships

  • Able to be hands on with technical issues and work toward timely resolutions

  • Adhere to Motorola policies and practices

  • Track and manages assets used by multiple SUS related teams

  • Ensure all operational documentation and procedures remain up to date and relevant

Desired Experience:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft and/or Linux based operating systems and internal functions

  • Advanced knowledge of automation and/or configuration management technologies

  • Knowledge of automation solutions and cloud operations (e. g. AWS) experience

  • Previous management and leadership experience

  • ITIL Foundation Certification or Experienced with ITIL

  • Industry standard certifications for technologies and/or cybersecurity

  • Experience with managing resources in a datacenter or extended environment

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated technical understanding of operating systems, application level support, virtualization technologies, and networking core concepts

  • Demonstrated advanced technical knowledge of modern network security, network hardware, protocols, and standards

  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues

  • In-depth familiarity with security policies based on industry standards and best practices

  • Experience performing troubleshooting, break fix, or technical support on Windows or Linux operating systems

  • Ability to lead and communicate effectively within a team environment

  • Must have strong organizational skills

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds

Salary range for Illinois $100k-$120k.

Basic Requirements

Required Skills:

  • High school diploma, Technical Certificate, or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or Technology.

  • Advance experience with Operating Systems, Application level support, Virtualization Technologies, and Networking core concepts required.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by our government customers.
