Position Summary

Bring our games to life by leading the creation of the math models that drive slot game play. Guide the math team through the development process, set priorities, solve problems, remove obstacles, and facilitate communication, all with the goal of providing the best gaming experience for the slot player. The ability to work quickly and efficiently as part of a team, take direction, and maintain a positive attitude under pressure is crucial.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and Develop the Math Team:

  • Manage and mentor a growing team of mathematicians, ensuring they stay motivated, engaged, and aligned with company goals.

  • Provide guidance to junior mathematicians on game projects and support their professional development.

  • Offer direction and feedback to senior individual contributors on game math design and execution.

  • Help build the culture, processes and standards for a brand new studio.

Collaborate with Game Design:

  • Act as the primary liaison between the math and game design teams to ensure smooth collaboration and alignment.

  • Work closely with game designers to assess game mechanics and math model feasibility, offering recommendations to enhance game balance and player experience.

  • Prioritize math development efforts based on studio and company-wide project roadmaps, ensuring timely delivery and quality of work.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with product teams to define game-specific attributes and requirements as they relate to the math models.

  • Coordinate with senior math leaders across other development centers to align on math standards and best practices.

  • Support analytics teams by providing insights into math model data and helping guide future improvements.

Mentorship and Innovation:

  • Mentor junior mathematicians on all aspects of game math development.

  • Work with other mathematicians and game designers to brainstorm and evaluate the mathematical feasibility of new game concepts.

  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitive products, and emerging technologies to foster continuous innovation.

Qualifications

Training and/or Experience:

  • 15+ years of experience in applied mathematics, probability, and/or combinatorics.

  • 5+ years of experience managing teams and providing strategic direction for math or design projects.

  • Experience in designing or supporting the development of slot games is required.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide a team.

  • Excellent multitasking and communication abilities.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and a programming language like C++, C#, or similar.

  • Familiarity with Windows programming environments, such as Visual Studio.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
