Responsible for assisting optometrists and ophthalmologists in providing quality eye care services to patients by performing a range of administrative, clinical, and technical duties to ensure efficient operations and excellent patient experiences within the eye care department.
Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions -Greet and prepare patients for their eye examinations, including documenting medical history, medications, and chief complaints. -Conduct initial vision and eye health assessments, such as visual acuity, auto-refraction, and non-contact tonometry, to gather baseline information for the optometrist. -Perform specialized tests under the direction of the optometrist, such as visual field testing, retinal imaging, corneal topography, and fundus photography. -Assist patients with contact lens insertion, removal, and care instructions. -Educate patients on proper contact lens hygiene. -Ensure the cleanliness and proper functioning of diagnostic and examination equipment. -Provide patients with information about eye conditions, treatment plans, and preventive measures as directed by the optometrist. -Assist the optometrist during minor procedures, such as foreign body removal or tonometry, by handing instruments and offering patient comfort.
