Introduction

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Purview Engineer to play a critical role in our data governance and compliance initiatives. This role requires deep expertise in Microsoft Purview, data protection, and enterprise-level data management practices.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Data Governance and Compliance Implementation:
    Implement and manage Microsoft Purview solutions to ensure effective data governance, compliance, and protection at scale.
  • Policy Development and Enforcement:
    Collaborate with data stewards, data owners, and stakeholders to define, enforce, and continuously refine data governance policies, including DLP policies, sensitivity labeling, encryption protocols, and retention strategies.
  • Metadata and Data Catalog Management:
    Develop and maintain comprehensive data catalogs, data lineage, and metadata management processes using Purview.
  • Enterprise DLP Policies:
    Design and implement enterprise-wide Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies to secure sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access or leakage.
  • Sensitivity Labeling and Encryption:
    Configure and manage sensitivity labeling and encryption scenarios to ensure the protection of confidential data across the organization.
  • Retention and Records Management:
    Develop and maintain retention schedules and policies to support compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
  • Monitoring and Auditing:
    Proactively monitor and audit data usage and access to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Technical Support and Training:
    Provide technical support and training to users on Microsoft Purview tools, data protection solutions, and best practices.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    Stay updated with the latest developments in data governance, Microsoft Purview, and related technologies to continuously enhance solutions.
Location and Travel Details:
  • This is a remote opportunity with some travel to the client site.
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Travel to the People's Republic of China is prohibited for this role.
Security Clearance and Citizenship Requirements

Must be able to obtain and/or maintain a Secret clearance.

Required For This Opportunity:
  • Microsoft Purview Expertise:
    Proficiency in Microsoft Purview and its components (e.g., data catalog, data lineage, data classification, and compliance workflows).
  • DLP and Security Policy Knowledge:
    Expertise in creating and managing enterprise DLP policies, sensitivity labeling scenarios, and encryption protocols.
  • Retention Policy Experience:
    In-depth experience with retention policies, record management systems, and lifecycle management for enterprise data.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    Familiarity with data management tools and technologies (e.g., SQL, Azure Data Services, PowerShell scripting, and automation tools).
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
    Ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues related to Purview implementations and data governance.
  • Communication Skills:
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and delivering training sessions.
  • Project Management:
    Experience managing multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
  • Deep understanding of enterprise data governance frameworks, DLP policies, sensitivity labeling, encryption, and retention management.
  • Microsoft certifications related to Purview, Azure, or data governance (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate, Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals) are highly desirable.
  • Experience with other data governance tools and frameworks is a plus.
  • Understanding of Agile or Scrum methodologies.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience as a Purview Engineer or similar role.
