Position Summary

This is an internship position in which you will support and gain knowledge and experience of the entire project execution team (Project Management, Project Controls, Construction, Engineering, & Shipping/Logistics departments).This will be a rotational program, spending predetermined periods of time supporting all departments with day-to-day tasks assigned by each department's designee. This position will work within nVent's Thermal business unit located in nVent's corporate office In Houston, TX in the Energy Corridor.

Key roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist Project Controls with project set up, internal change order processing, and project closeouts through the use of key software such as SharePoint, SAP, and Primavera P6.

  • Assist Project Management with creating entering change orders, preparing weekly construction progress documents (including EVM), and preparing material requisitions.

  • Assist Construction Department with updating weekly Safety Orientation log i.e., Drug tests, backgrounds, jobsite requirements...etc, as well as coordination of crew mobilizations and some site visits.

  • Assist Engineering with reviewing and updating documentation, reviewing project data for trends, and preparing packages for issuance.

  • Assist Shipping/Logistics with general process review and documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be in the process of obtaining a Technical Bachelor's degree from an accredited university. Completion of the junior year is preferred.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Experience/coursework in project estimating; project management / coordination; planning, scheduling & cost control; or finance is preferred

  • Knowledge of Primavera P6 or any other scheduling software is preferred

  • Experience with SAP or other ERP system would be an asset.

  • Knowledge of general electrical projects would be a definite asset.

  • Candidates applying for nVent's Co-Op and Internship Program must have current work authorization and be legally authorized to work in the U.S. nVent does not provide work authorization sponsorship.
