Duties, Responsibilities & Other

Job Summary: The Project Specific Technician V role (PSTV) is the fifth in the career track for technicians who are primarily performing a specific technical task related to a defined scope of work supporting a utility system. This position is for a technician that is familiar with the specific work with twelve years previous experience required. This position will require the PSTV to perform basic field measurement, data collection, recording and observations related to existing or proposed utility infrastructure. This position could require the PSTV to observe and document the installation of existing facilities or conduct investigations to determine if new installations are feasible. Additionally, this position could require the technician to evaluate circumstances in the field and make real-time decisions on compliance to an outlined specification or standard. The use of electronic equipment including computers, tablets, mobile phones or similar devices may be required.

This position primarily involves working in a field environment with locations varying often on a daily basis. There is an expectation of significant field work, which may include exposure to inclement weather conditions such as extreme heat/cold, high humidity, rain, snow and icy conditions. Field exposure to insects, animals and vegetation may pose a threat.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Receiving and following directions related to daily tasks.
  • Performing field data collection using standard tools, methods and processes and performing necessary project-specific inspections accurately and efficiently.
  • Driving safely to various project sites by using diverse options of tools including maps, GPS and technical drawings.
  • Walking along project sites executing a variety of preassigned tasks.
  • Exhibiting ability to communicate with project stakeholders.
  • Understanding the hazards and dangers of the distribution system and how to navigate their role to prevent dangerous situations and mitigating hazards during the office and field portion of their role.
  • Actively looking out for others' safety in all aspects of this work.
  • Attending and engaging in scheduled safety meetings and adhering to driving and site hazard identification, mitigation and reporting training.
  • Evaluating circumstances and information in a field or project site environment and making determination of compliance, next proposed action or escalation of various types of issues.
  • Position could involve the management of a team to meet production goals in a safe manner that meets the project and company requirements.
  • Incumbents will have the ability to work on a storm response local or travel team as an Assessor or Team Lead, as needed.

This role will work under minimal supervision for mentorship, guidance and training.



Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Valid Drivers License required
  • OSHA 10 preferred
  • OSHA 1926 subpart P (if excavation is involved) preferred
  • Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
