Job Description

The College of Nursing Assessment Coordinator plays an important role in the development, implementation, and evaluation of plans for the assessment of student learning at the course and program levels. The position involves developing, measuring, reviewing, and tracking student learning outcomes. The Assessment Specialist will provide support and assistance to CON faculty and leadership in utilizing assessment results to improve student learning, the academic program, faculty instruction, and accreditation. The position will serve as a liaison between the college and other departments for all assessment activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Facilitates or leads:

  • Collection of data related to student learning outcomes, program outcomes, faculty teaching performance, and other as needed.
  • Program/College assessment committee or working group.
  • Development, implementation, and revision of the college assessment plan in collaboration with college leadership.
  • Preparation of assessment sections of accreditation-related reports.
  • Professional development for faculty and academic leadership on assessment processes and best practices.

Collaborates with:

  • Various stakeholders including deans, associate deans, directors, faculty, and others to support assessment processes and strategic initiatives.
  • Programs regarding student and program learning outcomes and assessment information included in curriculum proposals and/or revisions prior to college and university curriculum and policy committees (CAP and UCAP).
  • Program faculty and leadership to develop and evaluate the annual targets and benchmarks related to program metrics (e.g., retention and completion).
  • Programs to complete annual program learning outcomes assessment (APLO).
  • Engage program leadership and faculty in assessment activities.

Serves as:

  • Assessment resource and mentor to all leadership and faculty within the College of Nursing.
  • First-level reviewer for all assessment plans.
  • Liaison between the College of Nursing and University Assessment teams.

Assists with:

  • Designing and administering surveys as needed.
  • Reviewing and analyzing assessment data, identifying trends, and developing improvement initiatives.
  • Coordination of the University Assessment Plan and the College of Nursing Quality Improvement Plan (CONQIP).
  • Commission on Collegiate Nursing (CCNE) accreditation documentation and data collection.
  • Production of the Annual Report for each of the programs.
  • Coordination and communication of assessment in program review.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • May perform other duties and responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to time.

Travel Requirements:

  • Some travel could be required (minimally once per quarter).

Management/Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Coordinator may be asked to serve on faculty governance or academic policy committees, and, in general, participate in other ways to strengthen the academic reputation of Walden University.
  • Support coordination of Assessment Committee activities.
  • Serve on the University Assessment Working Group as needed.
  • Assist with College of Nursing rubric creation and updates as needed.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • Earned master's degree; doctoral degree preferred. Required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the development and assessment of student learning, program outcomes, and facilitating assessment processes. Required
  • Experience with nursing program assessment and CCNE accreditation. Preferred
  • Experience developing college-level courses, constructing rubrics, and interpreting student and faculty data. Required
  • Teaching experience in higher education, preferably in nursing or a health-related program with accreditation. Preferred
  • Experience in training faculty and academic leadership on assessment processes and outcomes data. Preferred
  • Experience with distance learning. Preferred
  • Candidates should possess experience in curriculum mapping, and the development and integration of assessment tools.
  • Strong skills in using data visualization and data storytelling to inform decisions.
  • Ability to provide leadership and support in program assessment.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills in a remote work environment.
  • Commitment to the goals of diversity and social change; excellent leadership, communication, team, and human relations skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and PowerBI.
  • Highly organized with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to participate in national faculty meetings and other work-related travel.
Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $68,637.22 and $124,230.14. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
