As IT Claims Product Manager you will manage IT products that support one or more lines of business. This includes managing the demand process and partnering with IT project managers, other technical resources, and business partners to support both tactical and strategic development. In this role, you will own and manage the IT product lifecycle including project level feature releases, run support, and technical upgrades to enable business functionality while maintaining system reliability/performance, regulatory compliance, and technical fit. You will be responsible for the secure and stable 'run' of the products as well as managing and containing product costs. You will have the opportunity to collaborate regularly with cross-functional teams and locations to ensure alignment on target architecture, standards, feature development and prioritization of these efforts.

IT Product Manager General Accountabilities

  • Partner with business product owners and stakeholders to deliver superior products to the customers
  • Primary point of contact for business and IT resources on all topics related to the products in scope
  • Partner with enterprise and solution architecture to develop product roadmap including software currency. Build consensus on prioritization on the roadmap and drive product execution
  • Identifies opportunities for operational efficiency
  • Responsible for overall financial and technical health of the products
  • Participates in and is up to date on all major initiatives including projects, run support, audit, compliance, disaster recovery exercises, and corporate mandated activities
  • Primary point of contact for all activities relating to demand management and release planning oversight, execution, and communication
  • Coordinates and aligns with enterprise practice groups, frameworks, and shared services
  • Accountable for execution of long-range technology strategies to support business strategy
  • Ensures superior delivery of products using internal and external resources
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, third-party vendors, and technology partners to ensure seamless delivery and support of IT solutions
  • Primary point of contact with vendors for solutions and software delivered/supported by the product team. Participate in contract definition and execution including statements of work development
  • Coordinate and approve the delivery of system documentation including technical, regulatory, compliance and training material
  • Adhere to and promote corporate compliance standards
  • Manages and provides leadership, coaching and mentoring to resources on product team
  • Resolves resource contention and operational issues across the Agile and Kanban teams

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in information management, computer science, business or finance, or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years of information systems or project management experience including 3+ years of delivery management or IT product management
  • Senior lead/development experience with Guidewire ClaimCenter or other enterprise level Claims Administration system
  • Familiarity with systems integration in a development and management/lead capacity including digital strategy adoption
  • Expert level knowledge/experience with Claims process and other related processes (Policy Administration, Business Process Management, Finance, etc.)
  • Proven experience managing enterprise IT solutions, SaaS platforms, or cloud-based applications
  • Experience with IT financial management including tracking actuals and forecasting
  • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or other product development methodologies
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, JIRA, or similar tools
  • Experience working within the primary insurance industry
  • Experience with regulatory requirements in the insurance/reinsurance sector is a plus
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft and/or Java development, front end development, data analytics, cloud integration and support, API Development and Web Analytics
  • Experienced in defining/executing digital business strategies and digital business architectures

Knowledge and Skills

  • Project management methods - Agile, Kanban, tools, and techniques
  • Resource management skills - demand capacity, prioritization, conflict resolution
  • Practical enterprise Claims Administration System development and operational experience, preferably with Guidewire ClaimCenter and associated systems
  • Development experience in Gosu, Java, Database (SQL Server) technologies
  • Familiarity with APIs, data analytics, and digital transformation technologies
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative environment promoting a strong team structure
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and behaviors with experience working across global, business, and technical teams
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, negotiation and decision-making skills with proven ability to make decisions in an informed, confident, and timely manner
  • Strong verbal and written communication which demonstrates the ability to influence outcomes and decisions at multiple levels in the organization
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office or comparable product for word processing, spreadsheets, database management and presentation development. Ability to adopt and learn emerging office tools/technologies
  • Knowledge of reinsurance processes, risk modeling, underwriting systems, and claims management technology is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of usability and customer-focused design
