Job Summary

#CA-DS

As a member of the overall Education Team at the School of Nursing, the incumbent's primary responsibility will be to support the daily operational needs of the clinical skills courses within the Doctor of Nurse Practitioner Family Nurse Practitioner program, Doctor of Nurse Practitioner Nurse Anesthesia program, Psych Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program, Physician Assistant program, and Master's Entry Program in Nursing. This position is a member of the Curriculum and Technology team and acts as a staff point-person for aspects of clinical skills experiences, simulation, assessment, and operations within the School of Nursing and any co-curricular clinical skills activities. In conjunction with the faculty and staff team, this role will plan, implement, and evaluate clinical skills training sessions and assessments. This includes implementation of Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) . Specific tasks include managing simulation supplies and equipment requests, standardizing processes, creating modules, and implementing quality improvement projects. This position may also fulfill additional duties as assigned for ongoing projects and events within the School of Nursing.

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Minimum of three years experience in higher education setting.
  • Experience producing high quality work using Microsoft suite programs including Teams, Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize projects and assignments to meet competing deadlines.
  • Strong project management, strategic planning, and independent decision-making skills to contribute to operational efficiency gains to improve educational activities.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to independently lead interprofessional teams of faculty and stakeholders, and working to gain consensus and keep projects moving toward completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive or difficult situations diplomatically. Demonstrated professional interpersonal skills to communicate in a pleasant, tactful, and effective manner and to relay information accurately.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to assess current and future program needs, recognize gaps and make recommendations to address and to develop and monitor project timelines for course implementation.
  • Knowledge in the areas of equity, inclusion, diversity, and cultural competency.
  • Demonstrated outstanding computer skills to work with different software and online technology.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret policies related to course delivery.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with stakeholders with varying levels of educational and/or technology experience.
  • Must be sensitive to highly confidential information to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills to address unique problems without precedent and/or structure. Ability to evaluate and solve problems with a high degree of autonomy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in related area preferred
  • Experience with health professions education, clinical skills education, and/or educational simulation.
  • Experience with learning management system such as Canvas.
  • Experience with in-person and online curriculum.
  • Knowledge and commitment to UC Affirmative Action policies and procedures, specifically related to recruitment & retention of graduate students from traditionally under-represented groups.
  • Knowledge of nursing education programs and support requirements sufficient to organize resources to implement teaching activities.
