City/State Norfolk, VA Work Shift Rotating Overview: Sentara is hiring an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician Trainee at Norfolk General Hospital Location: Norfolk General Hospital Status: Full Time (40 hrs/wk) Shift: Rotating Hours: 6am-11pm (occasional overnight coverage) Weekends: Every Other Weekend Holiday Rotation The Pharmacy Tech Trainee performs care delivery and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner. Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately Enrollment in an approved pharmacy technician training program or Guild Program and certification as a technician-in-training within 30 days of hire is required. Must register as a pharmacy technician-in-training in the state of practice In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
