Overview:

Sentara is hiring an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician Trainee at Norfolk General Hospital

Location: Norfolk General Hospital

Status: Full Time (40 hrs/wk)

Shift: Rotating

Hours: 6am-11pm (occasional overnight coverage)

Weekends: Every Other Weekend

Holiday Rotation

The Pharmacy Tech Trainee performs care delivery and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.

  • Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist
  • Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
  • Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
  • Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
  • Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
  • Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
  • Enrollment in an approved pharmacy technician training program or Guild Program and certification as a technician-in-training within 30 days of hire is required.
  • Must register as a pharmacy technician-in-training in the state of practice
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

Certification/Licensure

  • Virginia Pharmacy Tech Trainee License (Required)

Experience

  • Pharmacy Experience (Preferred)

The base pay rate for Full Time employment is:$18.62 - $25.38Additional compensation may be available for this role such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
