IEM is seeking Full Time- Fraud Investigators to assist with and or conduct fraud investigations.

Primary Location:

  • Candidates can originate from anywhere in the United States but must be willing to relocate to New Mexico.
  • Preference will be given to candidates already residing in New Mexico.
  • Your workplace will be in an office environment and remote from a personal location and will depend on the need of the project.

Essential Functions:

  • Independently conduct forensic analysis of financial data. Review and analyze data to discover discrepancies and ensure compliance with program requirements and the law.
  • Perform analysis of government databases and open-source information to search for anomalies, questionable connections, trends, and patterns that may be indicative of fraud, waste, or abuse financial assistance programs.
  • Identify potential patterns to group fraud cases into categories to focus research and focus efforts.
  • Assists senior forensic accountants and/or senior fraud investigators with conducting fraud investigations, audits, evaluations, and other reviews.
  • Assess the value of financial evidence. Unravel sophisticated techniques for applying for program benefits and/or redirecting program benefit payments including the use of Bot activity and stolen identities. Provide fraud profiles of individuals and groups. Compile detail financial findings and conclusions to prepare in-depth forensic investigation reports.
  • Utilize various computer applications to review and interpret implications on a vast number of financial transactions, and other financial assistance business and financial processes and record keeping systems.
  • Produce detail fraud investigation reports and exhibits and presentations or briefings.
  • Effective skills in research, analysis, and oral and written communication.
  • Provide litigation support and present findings to be used as trial evidence

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Criminal Investigations, Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Business Analytics or an equivalent field.
  • Five (5) years or more of experience working as a fraud investigator for large scale projects.
  • Ability to meet the necessary qualifications and suitability requirements to obtain and maintain a FEMA badge, which may include background checks and security clearances as required by FEMA.
  • Knowledge of various sources/methods of obtaining data and techniques used to assist in the analysis of the data in support of investigations, and other reviews.
  • Ability to evaluate information from multiple sources and determine the importance and limitations to each piece of information.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities and help with a variety of assignments, based on a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to quickly learn new computer systems and/or applications used to support audits, evaluations, investigators, and other reviews.
  • Ability to present information in an understandable and compelling manner.
  • Ability to draft reports and other work products that are complete, adequate, and supportable.
  • Familiarity with accounting software and spreadsheets
  • Strong investigative and analytical skills
  • Excellent numeracy skills with the ability to spot inaccuracies
  • The ability to handle confidential information

Additional Location and Travel Information:

  • Office Locations: Office locations are often either owned by the client we work with or by IEM. All candidates are expected to follow any rules and regulations of the office in which they are required to work for that project.
  • Remote Work: All remote work environments require the ability to maintain minimum Internet speeds of 25 Mbps upload and 3 Mbps download, as well as a ping rate of 100 ms or less during working hours, regardless of the type and number of devices using your Internet connection. You must also have account privileges and access to your Internet service provider account during working hours for the purposes of maintaining the Internet connection, if needed.
