Job Description:

The Cabin Systems Engineer ensures STC (Supplemental Type Certificate) solutions for Cabin upgrades projects, the job holder is responsible and accountable for all electrical systems Tasks / Activities, and for the on-quality / on-time completion of associated deliverables. These tasks cover end to end activities from the customer requirements to the working party.

Your working environment:

The Engineering Center in Mobile, Alabama houses hundreds of Airbus engineers who assist in the design and development of Airbus commercial aircraft cabins, including aftermarket upgrades, reconfigurations and services of all product types across the globe.

Your challenges:

  • Representing the electrical systems team, reporting to the Project Manager / Multi-functional team,

  • Creating the list of electrical deliverables,

  • Writing equipment specification if needed,

  • Ensuring correct electrical system architecture (block diagrams),

  • Writing Technical Repercussion Sheet,

  • Validating Wiring Diagrams,

  • Writing and/or approving the relevant technical/substantiation notes,

  • Writing Installation Instructions,

  • Ensuring technical assistance during working party,

  • Ensuring equipment & software evolution follow-up through the Equipment Design Evolution Sheet (EDES) process.

  • Ensure cabin electrical systems technical content complies with all applicable requirements.

Your boarding pass:

  • B.S. degree in engineering.(Mechanical /Aeronautic/Civil /Electrical Engineering)

  • 6 years experience within the aviation industry, specifically aircraft cabin electrical systems engineering and development process, and knowledge of associated design, certification and qualification requirements.

  • Experience in embedded electrical systems Engineering (ATA 23-24-25-26-33-44),

  • Experience in cabin electrical systems architecture,

  • Experience in cabin electrical systems substantiation (Functional Hazard Analysis / Electrical Load Analysis / EMI / Ground Test Instruction ...),

  • Knowledge in equipment qualification ABD100, DO160 and DO178,

  • Knowledge in Aircraft Publications (AMM, AWM, IPC...

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

  • Ability to understand and mentor principles within assigned discipline.

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical aircraft topics.

  • Excellent communication, coordination, and organization skills.

  • Ability to inter-relate with and motivate diverse teams.

  • Authorized to work in the US.

Preferred experience in:

  • Airbus aircraft general knowledge,

  • Delegated signatory for cabin electrical systems within Airbus DOA,

  • Knowledge of EASA Part 21 (DOA / POA), Part 145 and CS25 regulations requirements,

  • Experience in technical project management,

  • Experience in configuration management.

Physical Requirements:

  • Onsite or remote: Onsite 100%

  • Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.

  • Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.

  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.

  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.

  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.

  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.

  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.

  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.

  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.

  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.

  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice.

  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.

  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site.

This position is a temporary (contract) position with no specific time period but could be extended or shortened as needed. Contractors are employed by a 3rd party vendor and placed on assignment to Airbus.
