Pay is depending on experience. Starting rate is $124,527/annually ($4,789.50/biweekly).

The Director of Compliance is responsible for the Bank's Compliance Management System, ensuring the Bank operates in full compliance with all applicable federal and state banking laws, regulations and policies. Responsible for promoting regulatory compliance through development, implementation, and management of the compliance program, ensuring adherences to regulations set forth by the FDIC, State of Alaska, and other governing bodies. Responsibilities include providing oversight, support, direction, clarification, interpretation of regulations and requirements; communicating areas of exposure, possible risk, and non-compliance to management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive compliance management system to ensure compliance with applicable State of Alaska and applicable Federal Regulations.
  1. Monitor regulatory changes and implement necessary policies and procedural updates.
  2. Conduct regular risk assessments and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  3. Provide regular reports on compliance status, risk trends, risk exposures, and compliance issues to executive leadership and the Board.
  4. Participate in the due diligence and projects for new vendors, products and services. Ensure that all new products and services are effectively tested and implemented throughout the product life cycle to ensure compliance.
  5. Manage Compliance Examinations.
  6. Provide guidance on risk-related matters to various departments and promote a risk-aware culture throughout the organization.
  7. Manage and administer insurance policies, provide needed data for policy renewals and bind coverage.
  8. Identify insurable risks and acquire coverage when appropriate.
  9. Complete online, written and in-person compliance training within established timeframes.
  1. Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include scheduling hours, interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; conduct performance evaluation; working with HR to address work related issues.
  • Ensure employees complete compliance training within established timeframes; understand and implement compliance requirements applicable to their positions.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field.

Experience

  • Ten years of experience in a compliance department at a regulated financial institution.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience in a banking or related environment that fulfill the requirements of the position may be considered.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and management experience is preferred.
  • Related military education/experience may be used as a substitute for education or work experience.

Knowledge & Communication Skills

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively communicate with customers, employees, management, directors and examiners. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Must be able to perform basic to intermediate math calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Must understand and have the ability to implement applicable compliance requirements.

Analytical & Decision Making Skills

  • Ability to define complex problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and make decisions based on those conclusions.
  • Highly developed analysis skills, particularly with regard to researching and analyzing complex regulations and communicating the information to others. Must be able to understand how regulations are effectively implemented within the Bank's operations.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret bank lending and deposit data, economic statistics, demographic information, and other census tract information.

Computer/Software/Other Equipment Skills

  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to operate standard office equipment such as PC, printer, fax/copier, and telephone.

Ability to utilize complex loan data analysis software, reports, and applications is a necessity.

Working Conditions

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
