AESC is looking to add a Supervisor, Quality to our team in Smyrna, TN. *Full-Time *On-site *Smyrna, TN About AESC US LLC AESC is a global leader in the development and manufacturing of high-performance batteries for zero-emission electric vehicles and energy storage systems. AESC's Tennessee gigafactory in Smyrna, which has been operational and supplying electric vehicle batteries for the Nissan LEAF since 2012, was retooled in 2025 and now produces batteries for Energy Storage Systems. The South Carolina gigafactory in Florence will supply next generation cells for BMW starting in 2026. About the Role The Quality Supervisor plans, directs, coordinates, and controls quality activities in assigned work area to achieve established goals. Supervises assigned team members to ensure a quality product and customer requirement are met while maintaining a safe working environment. What You Will Do: Responsibilities include direction and training of employees, leading laboratory activities and enforcement of health, safety, and environmental policies. Meets quality and assists production objectives through assigned personnel following all regulatory guidelines, and within established cost and time parameters. Plans and executes the daily quality activities required to achieve customer requirements. Supports plant departments to ensure the QMS is understood and being followed. Assist in the layout, development, and implementation of the Quality Labs throughout the plant. Assist in the development of the plant calibration systems and manages the completed system. Schedules team members to assure quality objectives are met daily. Monitors product data (Product Audits) to anticipate problems and delays throughout the process and makes corrections through problem solving and trouble shooting. Conducts process audits to ensure the SOSs are being followed. Promotes 5-S activities throughout the plant, with focus on areas of responsibility. Controls labor and materials usage to meet or improve standard costs. Manages temporary movement of personnel to meet quality requirements. Achieves Safety, Quality, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for quality areas of responsibility. Able to lead 8D completion and other problem-solving activities. Interacts and coordinates with maintenance and engineering to identify countermeasure issues with equipment, processes, or materials. Prepares One Point Lesson's (OPL) and Standard Operating Sheets (SOS) in support of AESC Production Way. Handles all administrative duties and paperwork. Investigates material variances and reports result of investigation to manager. Prepares all required reports and supports quality investigations when needed. Understands principles of continuous improvement and carries them out in the quality area. Meets all ethical, regulatory, etc., standards for position. Supervises day-to-day activities for quality technologists including but not limited to scheduled work time, time and attendance, scheduling and approval of overtime, corrective actions, evaluations of skill sets, and training plan development of production technicians. Communicates daily with subordinate employees. Coaches/counsels/disciplines employees as necessary. Assists with tracking and maintaining employee records related to training, attendance, performance, overtime, safety, mobile equipment licensing. Ensures ongoing safe plant operations and safe employee behavior. Familiarizes personnel with AESC policies and procedures and provides policy updates as needed. Has a working understanding of the plants rules and corporate policies regarding employee behavior and responds appropriately to matters governed by these policies. Instructs and trains employees and motivates them to be safety conscious, quality oriented, efficient and to strive for continuous improvement mindset. Orients new employees to department, area, shift, etc. Ensures team members are properly trained and follow standard operating sheets (SOS). Schedules technicians for technical and powered equipment training. Provides IATF 16949, ISO9001 international manufacturing quality standards, ISO140001 environmental standards training and VDA quality standards. Coaches and develops team members into potential leaders or supervisor candidates. Assists with maintaining all related training documentation. Ensure technicians operate in a safe and efficient manner and that all safety guidelines and rules are followed. Proactively identify and address safety concerns before an incident occurs. Facilitates implementation of post-incident countermeasures to improve safety performance. Administers the health, environmental and safety program in the work area; enforces health, environmental and safety standards, work practices and housekeeping. Ability to flex to different shifts as business needs require. Supervises and provides leadership, coaching, guidance, training, and staff development; interviews and selects unit employees; plans and evaluates employee performance; recommends merit increases, transfers, and promotions; counsels and disciplines employees as necessary; recommends termination when appropriate; monitors time and attendance of subordinates and approves timesheets. Ensures all 5S standards and requirements are met within the facility. Defines and communicates expectations clearly per Senior leadership guidelines. What You Need: High School Diploma or GED required. At least two years of related experience at the professional level required. Prefer two to five years in a work leader role coordinating the work of other employees and contractors. This includes training new employees, assigning work, and checking the timeliness and quality of work. May have provided input into performance reviews. Most of the time in a work leader role would have been spent performing work similar to that performed by the people whose activities the position coordinates. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, other PC applications, and mainframe applications to produce non-standard, creative products. The preferred candidate possesses the experience and knowledge required to support continuous improvement activities within a production department. The activities will lead to a highly effective, efficient production team. Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards) Understands and follows all standards of ISO14001 environmental standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards) What is "Nice to Have"? Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business, or other relevant field is highly preferred. Background in supporting a highly technical automotive-related manufacturing environment is highly desired.
