Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The PT Intern Developer, LSC Online learns the role of a Developer while assisting with designing, developing, implementing, and testing application software and related integrations. The position learns to update and enhance existing client-server security frameworks within delivered applications based on predetermined requirements. Under direct supervision, applies system solutions to LSC-Online business problems through the design and programming of automated systems. Assists in some custom programming assignments and design of delivered services, often replicating existing software solutions to expand coverage or increase code uniformity. This position will receive technical guidance and year-round mentoring.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Under direct supervision of the department manager and/or higher-level developer, learns the Developer role by assisting with designing, writing, and testing software using best practices for website development, including mobile and responsive site design
  2. Under direct supervision of the department manager and/or a higher-level developer, assists with creating user interfaces using standard HTML/CSS practices, while incorporating data from back-end databases and services addressing all browsers and devices to ensure various computers can access the content
  3. Under direct supervision of the department manager and/or a higher-level developer, assists with developing interface programs based on existing designs or direction
  4. Under direct supervision of the department manager and/or business analyst, creates wireframes, graphics, animations, and forms
  5. Assists with providing technical support for LSC-Online's software implementations. Particular emphasis will be on programming languages and developing knowledge of programming transactions. Works with the College staff to ensure adherence to prevailing programming standards when performing analysis, writing documentation, and testing components. Works with business and operations personnel to ensure business requirements and system needs are met (including technical and operational documentation)
  6. Stays current with technological developments in systems and application support, and best practices
  7. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Current enrollment in a higher education institution focusing on software development

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Object-oriented Programming (One of C#, Java, C++)
  • Web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Graphic design kills using Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems (Canvas, Blackboard, D2L)
  • Experience working with Salesforce-Social Studio
  • Experience with Livestream or Restream
  • Experience working with Google Analytics
Salary

Hourly Pay Rate is $19.69
