Position Summary: Experienced operations role that oversees the procurement of components, Ames merchandise, TapeTech merchandise and Ames private label products. The Senior Buyer must maintain supplier relations for production components and Ames private label products that are distributed through the Ames Service and Distribution Centers. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Basic Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; in addition to 5-7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven experience in selecting and sourcing both domestic and international sourcing and ongoing vendor relationship management. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Certified Purchasing Manager through the Institute of Supply Management preferred. Core Competencies:
