Location: Primarily Remote (Periodic on-site meetings in Westbrook, Maine) Schedule: Full-time | On-call rotation one week every 2 months Overview: Are you an experienced IT professional who enjoys working with core infrastructure technologies and solving complex challenges? We're looking for an IT Systems Engineer to join our collaborative, high-performing team. In this role, you'll help design, support, and maintain a range of critical systems including Active Directory, Azure cloud services, Microsoft Exchange, PowerShell scripting, and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). The ideal candidate brings a solid background in IT systems administration-whether through formal education or hands-on experience-and is well-versed in managing enterprise infrastructure. You should have a strong understanding of Windows Server environments, cloud and network architecture, and a passion for continuous learning. Just as important are your communication skills, your ability to stay calm under pressure, and your drive to find better, smarter ways to work. What You'll Do: Active Directory Administration
Manage and maintain core Active Directory infrastructure Develop and implement standards for AD processes and security Troubleshoot authentication, LDAP, cloud sync, and permissions issues Experience with Group Policies and PowerShell is a plus
Azure Cloud Administration
Deploy and manage Azure tenant resources, including SSO/Federation, Conditional Access, and App Registrations Define and maintain standards for Azure services and compliance Oversee M365 license auditing and privileged access management Monitor performance and apply Azure security best practices
Microsoft Exchange Administration
Maintain hybrid Exchange environments for reliable and secure email Troubleshoot mail flow, spam filtering, and mailbox configurations Implement Exchange policies and support email security tools like Proofpoint
PowerShell Automation
PKI Administration
Manage digital certificate infrastructure and lifecycle Support authentication tools (Sectigo, DigiCert, ADCS, NDES) Ensure PKI compliance and standardization across systems

- Education: High school degree or GED preferred.
- License/Certifications: N/A
- Experience: Five years of experience in a Windows or Unix, Server or Desktop architecture required.
- Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Experience implementing, managing and supporting mobile and system desktop tools including operating systems, office systems and support tools in an enterprise environment. Demonstrated successful experience in enterprise desktop patch and security management including using system tools to test, QA, deploy, and manage desktop security and updates. Demonstrated expertise managing the entire desktop or server architecture lifecycle, including desktop image and software package management in a Microsoft Active Directory environment. Tool set experience should include Microsoft deployment tools, SCCM and other packaging tools.
